strange pile of rocks

Ive spent some time out at my "Treasure site" lately, and have come

to the conclusion that there's a few spots that I should dig. The first

problem I have is I really hate to dig,I hate digging in my yard, I hate

digging a flower bed,I just hate digging, you see I'm left handed and

left handed shovels are hard to find, not to mention expensive.

The other problem is every place I need to dig is full of rocks,or is

solid rock, and digging would be difficult to impossible. Now I'm

assuming that what I'm looking for is an empty space underground,

either a storage vault or a mine shaft. So what I think I need is some

way to find an empty space BEFORE I have to buy an expensive new

shovel.

So the question is, what do the professionals use to pinpoint an area

to dig so they don't have to dig up acres of boulders. I have kinda

given up on following the Spanish signs to the exact spot, cause they

were very good at hiding their mine from men with shovels,so me and my

left handed shovel are playing right into their strongest hand. But I

think that I can get close to the area of the mine, and if I can whip some modern

technology on them I stand a better chance of finding something, cause the

Spanish couldn't hide their mine from modern technology, they could

only hide it from men with shovels

So let me hear from anyone who has used technology to find voids

underground, or anyone who has an idea about how to find an underground hole,

or anyone who has fallen into a hole, or anyone who has a slightly used left handed shovel for sale. ;D

It looks like no one is going to chime in on how to find a void so I guess Ill have to do some guess work myself. I

had rather not guess at things like this, cause that can get very time consumming and mucho expensive but it

looks like I have no chose.

Ive looked on the internet for info on technological gadgets that will find a void, but most of the info comes from

people who have something to sell, and very very little from people who actually bought and used one to find

something. Thats why I was hopeing someone here had been successful in finding a tunnel and would share their

knowledge.

Moving on, I found a guy who had a gadget for sale that is supposed to find tunnels, at least it found them for

him, This thing is called a Rover Ground Penetrating Radar by the German company OKM. apparently this thing

sold for a lot of money when it was new but now its seven or eight years old, so he sold it to me dirt cheap. Hey,

I gotta start somewhere.

First chance I get Im going to take it out in the yard and learn how to use it, this sounds like fun to me, but Im

keeping my expectations low, I know a lot of these gadgets are just designed to separate folks from there

money.

Well a GPR is a great way to try and find voids, but usually they're really expensive. Also, they make a void detector, similar to a metal detector, that finds voids. I know someone who found a huge void with a void detector years ago.

Another way, if the soil is soft enough, is to take a small long rod and poke it into the ground. If there's a hole, you'll notice the lack of resistance. Especially if it's a big one.

Thanks for the reply djui5, I dont think that this gadget is a real GPR, I know that those things can cost tens of

thousands of dollars, this thing cost me a few hundred bucks.

I actually have a void finding metal detector, Its a Whites TM 808 and it has a cave mode for finding voids,

trouble is I cant get it to find a tunnel. Im kinda lucky that I live in mineing country, just like you, so I can try out

gadgets over a real tunnel, and so far Ive never got the thing to work walking over a tunnel that I knew was

there. Maybe Im not doing it right, but Ive tried it several times doing what the owners manual says and so far no

luck.

The rod works good in soft soil, but I'm dealing with mostly rock. Unfortunately thats what I'm blessed with.

Ive just done a " GPR " scan over the metal culvert in my driveway,as soon as I get it ready for the internet Ill

post it.

Sounds like a nightmare to me :) Best of luck with it.

Heres a scan of the culvert in my driveway.I'm to new at this point to

know if this will find a Spanish tunnel or not, but it does appear to

see the culvert down there, If only the Spanish hid there gold in culverts. More practice in the yard will be needed to

know what I'm looking at.

Looks like that might work! Let us know how you do at your site.

Pete

ha! That's awesome. Think it'll work. Play with it more to get used to the colors, but I'd say you bought yourself a great little tool. how many feet down does it go?

I'm sure hoping it will work, but I'm not expecting miracles. The depth it will go down depends on the ground,it is supposed to do best in rock, where over a hundred feet is possible! Ill believe it when I see it. I'm not selling my shovel just yet.

I got a chance to run some test scans in my yard and here they are.

The first scan is a scan about nothing,I figured it would be easier to

understand a scan with something in it if I knew what a scan with

nothing in it looked like and this is it.I walked out into the National

Forest beside my house and scanned a random spot. and to me it looks

like theres nothing there but maybe a ground squirrel hole. The picture

you see is a screen shot of the software that came with my gadget.

The next picture is far more interesting. This is a scan of a backfilled

hole about 5 feet deep. This was a water line break I had more than ten

years ago, and was dug out and backfilled with a backhoe. All that blue

color can be empty space or disturbed earth, I'm still not clear how you

tell the difference and the instructions on interpretation are worse

than useless. I think I can figure it out but its gonna take a lot more

scans of places that I know whats down there. You know how it is when

you get a new metal detector, you dig a six inch deep hole, throw a

penny in it, cover it up and sweep the MD over it and say, wow I found

it! Well this different. To be of any use to me this gadget has got to

see down at least 10 or 20 feet so testing it is not going to be easy.

My next test is going to be one that will give me a pretty good idea of

whether or not this gadget can earn its keep. About half a mile from my

house, threw the woods "I have to walk" there is an old po boy mine

tunnel, the tunnel is only about 5 feet tall, and I can scan over the

top of it and hopefully see it down there. also its dug into the side of a hill

so maybe I can scan it from different depths. I cant wait!

I just got to thinking that I dont know if anyone out there whose reading

this is actually interested my gadget and all these strange funny colored pictures.

I can see how this could be really boring. If you let me know, Ill move on to another subject.

I think your little gaget is pretty cool!
Keep posting I'm interested in what you find.
Pete

THL: Interesting photos and a neat device.

Some of the photos seem to be Spanish Markings others are natural. I do think you have enough to go on though.

Your Rover Ground Penetrating Radar is not technically a GPR but it is sure cool!

If you are looking for the mine itself 5 feet will do it if you are on top of the air vent. I have never seen a pozo over 4 feet deep.

I admire your eye on some of the symbols but remember nature can do some strange things. So can imagination.

I can say at least 4 of your images look like Spanish Markers. Some others would require closer inspection to prove that they were in fact man made and not natural occurrences. Some are clearly natural.

But based on what I have seen I suspect there would be 2 areas that I would scan with your Rover.

I am going to let you figure it out yourself. Here is a clue.
"I am the alpha and the omega"

Providing all of the photos are correct and not the same photos taken from different angles and distances. Also provided all the photos were in the same geographic area.

The alpha and omega are in your photos.

I see the alpha and the omega in the photos. Do you?

You are so dam close.

thats a sweet little gadget you got there man keep posting you progress. :D

Thank you for your reply ericwt, it was very interesting and mysterious to say the least.

I appreciate the encouragement it gives me when you say that some of the photos are real Spanish signs,Ive

always felt that if only one was real then something had to be going on out there.

I know that my gadget is not a true GPR, I only say that because thats what the manufacture called it, and

GPR is so easy to spell. I really don't know what it is, but its magic!

Im thinking that my best chance of finding something will be to locate the biggest thing at the site. "size

does matter". And the biggest thing there should be the tunnel system, of course it doesn't look big cause we

cant see it, and in the past we had to look for the door to the tunnel or a pozo and those could be very small

things in an ancient mine. But with the ability to locate a void I feel that there is a much greater chance of

stumbling across a tunnel system than of following the ever decreasing and ever more complicated Spanish trail

markers that were put there to mislead and confuse the likes of me. I guess Im saying, I dont want to play their

game anymore, like I said before in another post, they were hiding their gold from men with shovels,so if you go

looking for their gold with a shovel you are betting on your ability to outsmart them and I think thats a fools

bet." nothing personal about that statment, Im just trying to make a point about how Ive done things in the

past, and how I want to try a different direction."

The photos are all as I represented them, and "I'm just guessing here" all are located in less than 100 acres.

All I know about alpha omega rocks is what Charles Kenworthy wrote about them in his books. I have found

that his books are confusing at best and sometimes contradictory. I believe their supposed to look alike, and

the alpha is at the beginning of the trail "but Im not clear what trail" and the omega is at the end."The end of

what? The master monument , the vault, the mine.I dont know. And I believe their supposed to be large. I will

look through my pictures with your clue in mind.

This is fun, how about another clue?

Thanks everyone for the reply s, I feel like I'm talking to someone now.

Old Dog, I haven't been able to do anymore scans yet, every time I get a

chance to go it starts to rain, and I don't like to get wet,---- I melt. ;D

I am different ,

I don't mind the wet so much, But nowdays I do try to stay dry.
As I get older I ache something awful when I get real cold.
Absolutely can't stand the wind though. Worse than cold, LOL
A nice breeze is just right keeps the gnatts off and that suits me fine.

Sure has been a chase, felt like I was with you every step. I have been enjoying it emensly.
Thanks for sharing,
looking forward to more.

Good hunting,
OD

TLH:
Don't get me wrong I think your device is cool as heck! In some ways it is more practical than a GPR. Kind of like a snap shot photo as compared to a HD video. It is perfect for what you want to do.

Personally I would take that baby and do a few scan by your sewer pipe around the outside of your house or apartment building. That may help you visualize some things.

The Alpha and omega monuments are not always exact duplicates. One can be larger the other can be smaller.

I will take more time tonight to review all of your photos. Perhaps I can give some additional input later tonight.

But if it is a large mine there will be air vents and they will be within or under 3-5 feet. If you find the air vent you have found the mine.

I will talk at you latter tonight or in the early morning.

Thanks again ericwt for your reply, and for your help, its very much appreciated and needed.

actually my gadget doesn't work very well on metal pipes, the magic beam it shoots in the ground has a tendency to ricochet off the side of the pipe and not return. if you hit the middle of the pipe it returns and shows red color.

I'm looking forward to your next post.
