Dad & I spent nearly 5 hours continuing our search on the last of the Stubble Fields. I'm naming this one the 'Random' Field, as any period turns up in random places. We have had the odd good & unusual find but they are all spread out & from various periods.

Happy with today's results, especially this time of year:

1620s Rose Farthing
1694 W&M Farthing
Decorated 17th C Button
Tudor Button
Dad wins the smallest ever button award (9mm) :laughing7:
1910-20 Farm Workers Union Pin
Tiny Sterling Silver badge from a Medical Corp?
Small top part of a Roman Fibula
Small bottom section of a Saxon Brooch (bad angle of photo, it the piece under the monkey)
My biggest 13-14th Century Annular Brooch ;D Had many pins but no complete examples, as they get broken by the plough.
A Spanish (or Spanish territory coin?) of 16?? - I need an ID from my Spanish friends? Could I have the full inscriptions for both sides? Very pleased with its general condition, most copper in these fields are eaten up.

So no hammered today but the Spanish Coin (Dad found) & my Brooch makes up for it :icon_thumright:

We are going to try a different field tomorrow that Dad spotted the other day, we have never tried it (other than I had 1 five minute wander), so we may go for bust :-\

Your coin is very interesting to us ... and I explain why.
The bust is almost certainly of King Philip IV, but the shield is a mixture of Spanish and French shields (three lilies were not used in shield till the 18th century and this coin is the 17th century.) and lines placed either side.
But let me do some research.

Yeap, I guessed Philip IV after some quick research & I thought I saw the 'P' at the start. It is an odd one & I do really like it :icon_thumright: Look forward to your info :read2:

nice caduceus, good finds as usual, thanks for sharing.

Re: Stubble Field - Day 3...

Wtg! A good array of finds.... so good to be able to find such old coins.
My oldest to date is only 1866, and a penny to boot.
Cheers

UPDATE:

Dad's been researching:

'Some other interesting facts – This was the Phillip that married Mary I (catholic sister of Elizabeth I) and when Mary died he tried to marry his Sister-in-Law Elizabeth too but failed. He sent the Armada in 1588 as a Catholic crusade against the British protestants and its eventual defeat meant he lost a lot of power across Europe. It was also he that instituted the infamous Spanish Inquisitions in the Americas'

Interesting what you learn from 1 find :icon_thumright:
