So today we decided to drive out to one of our furthest permissions. The last visit was in Oct 2017. We took some stuff to show & share & as luck would have it, he was in the office working on his accounts. He was pleased to see us & is a pleasure to work with. He not only told us we could detect his Sugar Beet fields for another month but about another 100 acres we didn't know about! (although I wouldn't be happy doing the Beet for more than 1 more week, the plants are 3 inches already)
So our first call was the nearly hunted out Saxon/Roman Site where in 3 hours we picked up 8 scrappies & the 2 silver coins.
After lunch we moved to the un-searched land & after 15 minutes Cru'dad had a scrappy, we poked around for 2 hours & found a few bread-crumbs (signs of Roman activity nearby) but no Site.
We kept our silver streak alive - 14 for 14!

5 Hours;

9 Scrappies
Broken Medieval Swivel & Buckle
Badly cast & broken Medieval Sword Belt Hanger
Bent & crappy Hammered Sixpence 1561
Debased & Broken Roman Silver of Sept. Sev.
Our first 15th C Medieval Pouring Spout for a Vessel/Ewer. All the recorded variants I have seen on the PAS describe the beast head as a 'Dog'. However, they don't have my punk hair-style, so I'm thinking mine is a little known variant or they started them off as a Dragon & as they got copied it turned more Dog like? Not sure but they are high status, one being found in the Moat of Cardiff Castle.
Funny enough Cru'dad also got a Cap-Badge with a Dragon on it!

You still have to swing the Deus when you turn 90 to cover half the land the team has now.... :laughing9:

True, but I won't be jumping so many ditches....

Another good hunt Cru. Would the dragon cap badge been civilian or milatary? Good luck.
It's Military & un-researched. (first of its type for our collection) I'm thinking its a Welsh Regiment.
