Well after a couple of weeks of busy ness .. we finally got back out into the fields! Gosh I missed it!

This year some of the fields have been planted with grass … which is great as these are wet heavy fields to dertect in normally.. plus it gives as more grass in the off season 😎 xx

Let me start you off with a little badge, and a pic of what it should look like! Then a tobacco pot lid, Manners livery button, some spoon handles, 2 thimbles, loops, little weight, musket balls, little stud type thing, more buttons, lots of crusty pre dec, Himself’s cartwheel penny and forgery… and then my super special Gorge 3rd Half Crown, what a stunner 😍 xx

A pile of goodies recovered by our prodigal detectorists.

That George 3 is a delightful coin and condition. Very busy coat (s) of arms.
And the Manners's is a peacock...On a delightful button.

Reform badge. Unions and tariffs. Oh what would the Romans have thought?

Tobacco pot.
Alright I looked up tobacco pot. A humidor of sorts. A bit of orange or apple peel set inside for a while perhaps if a tobacco is getting too dry/hot.
Nice finial type top.

The industrious needles indicating thimbles. Still ready to catch an errant point in a dimple.
Coins and buttons and bits and bobs....

No double ended bullets this hunt. Of the trio one is content to appear a world understood roundball in prime health. Mostly unsullied and ready to be employed.
It's associate still wearing it's sprue (look Mum , I've an outie navel!) has a crude seam where mold sides joined as well. Perhaps an early in a casting run ball from a mold not hot enough yet. Or a crude mold was wearing out. Unlike the heathy example adjacent's casting.

The larger ball now....What is going on? Striations were created how?
IF from being loaded in a bore it suggests straight line rifling. Or a very damaged smoothbore.
And if it had been loaded it would want a hole in it from a ball puller if extracted without being fired. And if it had been fired it had a happy flight and tender landing...

Plenty of modifications and marks could be added.
Holding a ball behind fabric/canvas or a blanket allowed a tie point. Maybe even a hem weight.
But why the sides like the larger has?

Quite a coin to wave at Himself again. Knowing he is about past due for a doozy. l.o.l..







All whilst the field mutely acknowledges such a deep history.

The other pre dec coins are to far gone to id unfortunately… the soil is not kind to them!
