Just what the article says, It started in Juarez Mexico and most likely at a huge U.S. Hog farm.

We have no confirmed cases here in Okla. yet. But they do in Kansas and Texas.

They just said on tv Carnival has cancelled stops in Mexico.

make it a rule to ALWAYS wash your hands...
(if my kids even so much as pet our dog i make them wash up before they eat)

Usually soap and water is not accessible to a farm worker where animals are present...

A dairy is another matter and has somewhat of a cleaner environment...but its not possible to wash your hands during or after each task...

Even when a farmer gets onto a tractor, truck or other peice of equipment, opening a door, picking up a tool, he is coming into contact with some manner of fecal matter, whether its fly born, from a chicken, hog, cow and the like.

If you are a clean freak...stay away from a farm...

Actually Kelly farm kids get sick less, because they are always in contact with dirt and germs....Cows get something on their udder called pox....they found out that the milk maids didn't get cow pox and it was because they were around it all the time....I was around baby calves a lot so I never got E-Coli or Salmonella even when others around me eat the same thing and did. Sometimes you can keep your kids just too clean....pumped too full of Antibiotics every time you get a little cough or sneeze....now with the new improved super bugs...the old antibiotics no longer work, the body has forgotten how to fight off an infection on it's own.

Hey, I would Rather be infected by a non-lethal flu than to be Exterminated by its next reincarnation. It may be our only hope that some would have antibodies to fight off a deadlier cousin in that case. It's all in how you look at it...

This viral outbreak has the potential to be a very serious world wide problem. The 1918 influenza out break occurred with global travel being slow and limited as compared to today. Modern transportation can spread this virus very quickly. Even with a lower fatality rate than in 1918 this could be a disaster with a huge scope.

We have had heaps of people, verified with The Flu, we are NOT all panicking, a few in quarantine, imprisoned in their own homes

I have had the latest available - anti-flu vaccination - not Tami
and I have continued to get the annual jab, since a few years ago, when I thought I was literally dying with a Flu.
I now swear by the annual flu vaccination- 4 me

I dont get a flu shot and neither do my girls. the shot can make you sick.. so why bother.

They just reported the first US death from the Swine Flu a toddler who had been in Mexico a week ago.

There is no flu shot for this strain. Don't matter if you got 10 flu shots this year, you are not protected. There are only 2 meds taken orally that "might" help.
Last I heard, it would take at least 4 months to come up with a vaccine, then it would take much longer to produce and distribute it to enough people to really make a difference. (Amazing how the FDA can approve a new vaccine so quickly if it wants to). By the time it really gets to working, the virus will mutate and make that med worthless. How do it know?
