Dman and I have not been CW relic hunting since Jan. 27 due to snow, rain, frozen ground, and below average temps. Finally, we had a decent day to hunt even though it was 24 degrees when I picked Dman up in my truck. The sun was out and it warmed up to 50 deg. during the day-excellent relic hunting weather. We went to a U.S. CW Camp hoping to dig a few relics and wound up having a decent day. I used my F75 and Dman alternated with his SE and F75 LTD. Dman had the best find today with the Eagle cuff button. I found the iron equipment buckle similar to those on the bottom of cartridge box plates. We dug 5 dropped BIG BOY .69 cal. 3 ringers and assorted other bullets. I had one that was whittled on but have not cleaned it up yet. We had fun with the iron canister balls. They look good in a camp display. Dman was crying about having to buy another walnut display box because the other one from this camp is full-poor baby.
I was also the victim of a prank cooked up by Modern Miner today . He mailed some kind of repro coin or Chunky Cheese token to Dman who made sure I found it today. I knew something was up when Dman was so helpful in helping me locate it. I would like to put Dman in a cage and send him to Modern Miner ONE WAY.
Back to Morgan's CSA Camp with Josh next week if the weather holds. Happy hunting from Dman and myself in Middle Tennessee.
NOTE-Dman INSISTED that I add the R.R. Coin pic (Rare Reproduction) from North Carolina that I dug today. I also posted a pic of my cleaned up finds. Dman will post his tonight. The rusty chain piece is part of an iron curb bit chain that was U.S. standard bridle issue. Union Cavalry were staioned there with the Infantry regiments.
