The Beach Gives up two more rings

Got out for a few hours with the tide low and found a 10K small ring with the initials FBK and another that looks like a wedding band however I think it was silver and has been in the water too long, wouldn't clean up to good, along with some clad coins.

The trouble with this beach I am hunting is there isn't sand on the bottom in the water but like mud. All the targets are really deep, and I think the heavier rings probably sink out of range, at least I am guessing.

Looks like you are finding things that have been in the sand for a while. Must have been some good wave action there in the last week. Those missing stones just don't happen overnight. I would think that some sand movement over a long period of time would eventually wear out the prongs and settings to release those.

Wish I was able to hit the beach. Maybe in a couple of weeks.

Well what is funny it has been real calm for several weeks now. This beach as I said has mud for a bottom and no sand and I still feel based on the depth of the coins and these rings that the heavy ones may go to deep. Its tough to hunt the mud but I have been giving it a try. Three times out and three rings not too bad. Everytime there I have seen others with metal detectors, but in the dry sand only, there seems to be to much junk in the dry & wet sand, when I get out into the water a ways the junk disappears and it seems that when I get a target it's a good one..... Visitor's I think

I know what you mean about the mud. I found a place near Tampa that has the same properties. I dug a few targets there, all junk, but the mud stuck in my scoop so badly that I finally got lazy and moved on. I would have to dig a scoop full of mud and then remove it with my hand to get to the target once I had it in the scoop. The mud was almost like a wet slippery clay, almost like play dough that had gotten wet.

One thing I have learned about treasure hunting though over the years is that lazy folks don't usually find a whole lot. Guess you have taught me another lesson in life. I believe that I will go back out to that mud bog and endure.

You are doing well playing in the mud. It might be an old beach where the sand has been washed away or silt washed in to cover the heavier rings. Either way the area was once used enough to deposit some goodies and I say to enjoy it while your the only one playing in the water.

Just my 2 cents but I like a mud or clay bottom. I hunt lots of Florida beaches and I find alot of rings at the beaches with the mud and the clay. Good luck and keep hunting.

Have your tried the baking powder, salt, water, and aluminm foil methodI

I found it really works good on cleaning those hard to clean silver items quickly.

Believe me that ring can be cleaned, Its nothing compared to some ive found. You can simply put in a jar with a top with with foil and salt and it will eat the initial tarnish off and u will see what were talking about. Many methods exist but this is the easiest. I also wrap the silver in foil with salt and boil it in a pot. Eats tarnish faster. Then simply use a polishing agent like never dull and it will look new!
