cool article ...sure looks famillar. I've had the pleasure of being on a few archaeological field surveys.
It's a great way to learn alot from some very knowlagble people while having all the time and tools necesarry to be very thourough.
It helps give a full understanding of what went on at a site...much more than an isolated find.

Looks like a couple of these in the photo. Likely Hafted on a small handle and used to bore holes in wood. They did alot of net fishing in that area and would have strung cordage through alot of wooden uprights among other uses.

Great post! I have family on Marco Island and was just there over Thanksgiving visiting this very same site! Although when I was there they were not excavating, however, there were shell fragments, drilled pieces and all kinds of detritus all over the place, pretty neat. Thanks for posting.

There's like an acre or two near where I'll stay that's preserved mounds, I'll post some pictures when I go, but there are SOME places they haven't got to...it is a shame though, alot of history there..
