Haven't been able to get out as much as I would have liked this past month, but was lucky enough to get out to a couple of old parks yesterday and today. The first park I've hunted a number of times, but haven't really found much there. Yesterday turned out to be a little different. Found 4 wheats (1930, 1945, 1952 D, and a 1956 D). I know that this might sound strange to some of you, but this was the first time I had ever found 4 wheats on the same day.
Today, went to another park that I have hunted many times, but it still gives up good coins at times. In between all the clad and the can slaw I was finding, I got a real strange reading on the old DFX. It didn't matter which way I went over the area, it would read 90 to 94 (silver) and then drop down to 44 (trash) right after the 90's reading. And, it was at 8 inches deep and I was using the small coil because of all of the trash. Figuring that it was a deep can, I decided to dig it anyway. Imagine my surprise when old George popped out. 1936. Since I already had the hole dug, I decided to find out what had been masking the signal. Cleared away a little of the dirt close to where the quarter was, and out popped this small green World War 1 tank toy. Another nice keeper.
I know that these finds aren't much, but they sure made me happy. Hope all of you are having success too. Happy Hunting all.
