Mother nature is starting to stir, those northeasters starting to become more evident as we tip-toe into November and December. For those who can, and for those who are still willing to swing their thing on the beach despite the change in seasons then there is, perhaps, no better time to be on the beach. From now through about April/May, depending on the arrival of those warmer southerly winds, the beach will experience a great deal of change, more in some places then in others. All summer long the sand has continued to pile up one heap after the other but now mother nature is slowing gearing up to reclaim a great deal of it. In the months ahead she's going frequently strip the sand from the beach, those deep targets below often becoming exposed, and at least for a short period of time, left unprotected and well within range of your machine. If the fury of the sea gets angry enough some targets will even get cast onto the beach from their underwater haunts. It's usually chilly hunting and sometimes it's down right cold, sometimes even bitter cold, but for many who choose to endure these discomforts it will be worth it, their pockets and pouches often bringing treasure home. It's seldom easy hunting and it's seldom all that much fun, tis the season for the hardiest of the lot and you can bet they're preparing for it, if they're not already prepared, which is far more likely. Now it's just a matter of time, the waiting game, as Mother nature is finally on the move again. :icon_thumright:

The 3 & 4-footers were in the shallows at low tide chasing the mullet yesterday. A couple of them were getting so shallow they looked like they were belly surfing in the runoff. It was actually pretty neat to watch...mullet scattering and going airborne in every direction. Just a friendly heads up.

I have a feeling it's going to get pretty silent for a while.
Here's one that looked good in my scoop at a shipwreck beach two days ago.

Winds have switched ne 25 to 30 gusts. No cuts visable. Sloping mush calf workout. Cuts should start tonight. Found some clad and nails. Some shell areas but nothing good. I like seeing the sand move. Hopefully its the beginning of a good beach shave

That shadow in the surf is a shark bustin up mullet. I could have grabbed it by the tail. We all know how that would end.

Yesterday, after I pointed those sharks out to some visitors, I had a lady ask me if a 3 or 4 footer could hurt you? :laughing7: So I told her, "Not if having your foot chewed off wouldn't hurt."

Great photo, I'm on the isle an hour till low tide, bring extra coffee. Good luck today all, hope to run into any of you, I'm the weird looking one.

We have had a NNE wind @ 15 to 20 mph for two days now. I went to the surf today for about 4 hours and had a great time, the onshore temps were 60 degrees or so. There were a few coins fully exposed down at the water line blown up by the rough surf, but it's still sanded in around here above the water line. Most everything that I was digging was way down deeeep in the mulch. Although, this system so far has helped move some of the soft summer sand out, still got a lot more to go. I can never understand the mindset of the bikini's walkin' around gettin' sand blasted by a Noreaster in 60 degree November weather ..... But it's ok, I don't mind at all .. LOL!

Always like a nice bikini.,, great scenery

sorry - have to laugh when I see Fla. guys say waters are to cold down there - Im jumping into Cape cod waters tomorrow - you want cold
I'll be heading down your way in a few weeks - will be like bath water compared to here - I usually wear a t-shirt and shorts in waters down there
this time of year - will wear long sleeves if jelly fish are abundant -but that's for protection - not warmth
all you guys need should be a long sleeved dive jacket this time of years (keep heart warm)
NRS Men's Wetsuit Jacket - Closeout at nrs.com
- if need be - some dive shorts to match

Not the temp that bothers me it's those big old waves pounding my 135pd frail self "p where abouts you going to be visiting Capser?

Hubcap, you were headed out 12 hours ago, give us an update! I'm going dirt fishing tonight with my daughter, wishing I was at the beach instead!

Went to one north of the power plant, sand was firm no cuts other then the old renourishment cut being shaped and sloped, sand was firm at middle cove from high tide to low, found some clad not more then .76$. saw about 7 guys up at FD and JB parks, hope they had some luck. Went to Jensen main beach for tide incoming and was mushy and bleak. Thinking of a soccer field while it's driZzing in hope that will be not many around.

wabasso beach north had some shell piles to hunt but I wasn't getting anything so I eyeballed turtle trail, did not look good(no obvious cuts and plenty of seaweed) so I went up to bonsteel park and walked north.......lots of seaweed and deep mushy sand!!!! bad day for me, hope others found some productive spots.
from what ive seen the last 4-5 days, the the winds and high surf have been mostly easterly bringing in more sand and any helpful erosion was short lived and very localized. would love to see pics of any finds.

chuck.

It's strange, but like you I use to hunt the icy waters in the U.P. and the Great Lakes without too much bother, but after you live down here for a while 60 degrees can start to feel chilly. When living up north 50-60 degrees was a warm fall/spring day. I use to wade cold brook trout streams in shorts, now I cringe and shiver just at the thought. It was 70 degrees the other day, a bit breezy, and the water is probably still in the 70's, but I wore my 3mm shorty and still got chilly after a while. :laughing7:

I hate cold water. Most natives do. I deal with it by thinking of warm melted gold. ARRRRRRRR

Fort Pierce was filling today.
I waited til about an hour before low tide to hunt for leftovers on the flat low on the beach.
I haven't looked them over yet but it appears to be just clad and small iron and steel pieces.

Finds may have been few and wind was pushing me all over, all in all had super fun. Fabricated a shoulder harness for the Excalibur so fatigue was reduced tremendously, did see one large fish breach. Always tomorrow

Gator, use some of that local mojo to get the beach report a pic of the piece of 8 :p

A cob I found is on there.
8-)
1/2 reale
There is rumors of something heavy.
