All Treasure Hunting
Mother nature is starting to stir, those northeasters starting to become more evident as we tip-toe into November and December. For those who can, and for those who are still willing to swing their thing on the beach despite the change in seasons then there is, perhaps, no better time to be on the beach. From now through about April/May, depending on the arrival of those warmer southerly winds, the beach will experience a great deal of change, more in some places then in others. All summer long the sand has continued to pile up one heap after the other but now mother nature is slowing gearing up to reclaim a great deal of it. In the months ahead she's going frequently strip the sand from the beach, those deep targets below often becoming exposed, and at least for a short period of time, left unprotected and well within range of your machine. If the fury of the sea gets angry enough some targets will even get cast onto the beach from their underwater haunts. It's usually chilly hunting and sometimes it's down right cold, sometimes even bitter cold, but for many who choose to endure these discomforts it will be worth it, their pockets and pouches often bringing treasure home. It's seldom easy hunting and it's seldom all that much fun, tis the season for the hardiest of the lot and you can bet they're preparing for it, if they're not already prepared, which is far more likely. Now it's just a matter of time, the waiting game, as Mother nature is finally on the move again. :icon_thumright:

Man that's a nice piece of glass,Sponge. I hit the low at a modern beach this morning, couple bucks in clad so far. Just wandering where the crowds were yesterday

One day gonna build a display coffee table. Spread out all the glass among the finds.

I recently built one.
I cut the center out and added trim..then had a piece of glass cut to fit.
Attached a box below and connected a light.

If you watch the auctions sometimes you can come across a shadow box table, (depth & size varies), and sometimes they can be purchased for very little. I think Whydah purchased a few of these to display some of his stuff in.

Got one in the garage sponge I pulled out of trash few years ago, I'll take a pic and post it more then welcome to it

Ok so granted it's buried making its way closer to the door. My better half has vetoed it long ago, but I still kept it with hope. It is nice for sure, old big Xmas bulb type illumination in the center underneath, roughly 4ftish long 1 footish tall, maybe 1 and half foot wide. Varnished really good, has play sand in it from previous owner, I was just going to use it for a concrete something. These are the best pics I can take without excavation. Looking over head on a corner, the glass runs the length of the width of what looks to be a 4x4 image-157625757.webp Side view of corner image-3019257581.webp Looking down side more for length image-4117196524.webp

I appreciate all the good advice. That project on the burner its just the burner thats hard to reach. It will get done. Gonna try to incorporate some driftwood in the design. I have some good pieces

I was going to go to Cocoa detecting but I changed my mind. Me and the wife are going to Pass a Grille, on the West coast, tomorrow to try to catch some redfish and spanny macks...probably just catch jacks but I don't care...doesn't take much to make me happy...good luck on the East side.
Heres our catch...snapper, macks and black drum...we had a great time. IMG_0559.webp

Awesome! And you didn't miss anything over here....."the worst post blow conditions I've see in a long time." If you think we had sand before.....now it's worse. If we don't get a good blow soon it could be a long slow winter on these beaches.

Geesh Bigscoop.
Nice haul for the day lookindown.

You got that right! Spent 4 hours going from beach to beach. Blah!!!

Hit the beach last evening. worked from high to low on the beach. A few coins close to the dry sand and two others coins in the middle. Mostly nothing but sand and a pleasant walk in the misty rain. Came home with less than 50 cents. Went back to the beach today with the wife and a grandson just to play in the sand. Two guys, a couple hundred yards apart, hunted with Excals. The one in the dry was doing some digging now and then, but mostly walking to the trash can. I didn't see the one lower on the beach even stop to dig one time. He gave up after about an hour. Lots of sand and a little bit of floating can slaw is what I would guess..... HH to ya, Beach Papa

No kidding.....no features at all on my area beaches and if you started from the high/dry beach and walked to the waterline at low tide you wouldn't sense much of a drop or slope of any kind until after your knees were wet. All the waves were/are foaming yellow and coming straight in. After 30 minutes of fooling around I went home.

Just got back from a "hot spot" from yesterday and it did a small amount of filling overnight..the wind had just switched to north at about 4:00 pm.
A seven foot swell is predicted for this weekend with a good north wind.
I guess it just really depended on the beach..as to how it was effected.
I always hit beaches that angle in different ways according to the water movement.
Sometimes its only going to be a small area that gets "spooned out" not unlike what happens behind a large rock in a stream.
Some beaches even cut in the summer on a southeast wind.
I'm a pretty happy guy at the moment. :-)

Glad to hear you found something worth the hunt. But from the Seashore to Ponce inlet it's all sanded in, everything coming straight in at it.

Well I got a whole PENNY this afternoon! There was one cut where I was, but it's new sand, so full of aluminum, I actually got tired of digging it and the low trough.

The beach now extends from the top of high tide and cut, 20 to 30 feet out flat sand! I was trying to catch the waters edge, lots of targets, not one worth nothing. Tried the "deep holes", yeah, right, nada. I was trying to work the slopped washouts, couldn't find a coin line, nothing! Tried a few places I know wash out and have produced much, nothing! Trash!

As much as we need a big wind, I'm looking at losing my home-owners ins, so no, don't want big wind, LOL!
Oh, ya'll see them big pink blobbuler jellyfish, that's come in! Yeah, Arrr! May hafta break out the wetsuit.
Glad you had a good day Gatorboy! HH and good luck, may take more than luck! LOL! A back-hoe perhaps!
