Mother nature is starting to stir, those northeasters starting to become more evident as we tip-toe into November and December. For those who can, and for those who are still willing to swing their thing on the beach despite the change in seasons then there is, perhaps, no better time to be on the beach. From now through about April/May, depending on the arrival of those warmer southerly winds, the beach will experience a great deal of change, more in some places then in others. All summer long the sand has continued to pile up one heap after the other but now mother nature is slowing gearing up to reclaim a great deal of it. In the months ahead she's going frequently strip the sand from the beach, those deep targets below often becoming exposed, and at least for a short period of time, left unprotected and well within range of your machine. If the fury of the sea gets angry enough some targets will even get cast onto the beach from their underwater haunts. It's usually chilly hunting and sometimes it's down right cold, sometimes even bitter cold, but for many who choose to endure these discomforts it will be worth it, their pockets and pouches often bringing treasure home. It's seldom easy hunting and it's seldom all that much fun, tis the season for the hardiest of the lot and you can bet they're preparing for it, if they're not already prepared, which is far more likely. Now it's just a matter of time, the waiting game, as Mother nature is finally on the move again. :icon_thumright:

Never even crossed my mind.

Meeting with the board in December, remember many a pow-wow and jamborees as a kid there. I will let you locals know the results of the meeting. Hoping we can set something up for the camp with the years of activities there.

This was my humble finds today.

Yep I have a good assumption of who you are on that blog. Probably checked it today couple hundred times. I have learned a lot due to that fella, hope to shake his hand one day and thank him for the dedication to it in person more so then via interwebz. Ever get out to the scout camp off selvitz?
I agree! What a cool guy. It must be a labor of love. Was thinking of heading down there in a few days...maybe not.

on the treasure blog he was saying someone found old gold on the beach. If this is true congrats to the hunter

Didnt even know u guys were talkin about the same blog. Been hooked on that everyday for a year. It helped me so much with the wealth of knowledge that blog provides. Great referencing info on any metal detector questions. I get pissed when he dosent post on Sunday. Wait thats how it should be. Im old enough to remember when everything was closed Sunday. Sorry I started ranting off topic. Im hitting it Tomorrow good luck all

Sponge,
I feel you there. I find myself spending hours looking back on older posts when I need my fill. Going to try a few of those in between Jensen and Stuart at the AM low tide.

I do too, but I have a tendency to gouge my coil into the sand when they stroll by. They mess up my swing...:laughing7:

Greg

I wonder how many detector shafts are broken on south beach

There is some good in this recent sandy conditions, that being that the offshore sand has/is obviously being moved and redistributed toward the beach. As this applies to my area beaches it's likely that a lot of items in at least that first sandbar have been exposed and dislodged and also pushed closer toward shore. Now it's just a matter of getting the right current flow to eventually flush away all that loose soft sand and lighter trash. And those currents will eventually come, if only offering very short windows of opportunity.

Ran into a guy using this sand flea rake, holy dredging

"A little at a time".....that's probably how it's going to go this winter. Sooner or later, and probably later this year, the beach will be somewhat gray again. By late December/early January there should be some good hunting opportunities.

Even the shell piles can hold some nice lighter material after the sandbar had some pounding and the beach begins to build.
Keep your eyes peeled.

Nice eyeballed items, south of Jensen and north of Stuart hit a coin line for an easy 5$ in clad and a pocket knife. Tumbling the crap from this week. Noticed targets that didn't seem to be there yesterday.

Thanks.
Each spot has it's own mood don't it.

No kidding about the moods, also can't reply to your mail cause your inbox is full, lol lucky I got that one through I guess
