LOL! That was quick! I think I like "Buckleboy" better though. Digging up Banners just isn't as fun.

Incredible!!!
I guess you could say this was "The Perfect Hunt". After wonderful finds like this, I can't even begin
to imagine how difficult it's going to be to remain focused for your future hunts in that area
Well done & congrats on the Banner 8)

It is an awesome thing when research , knowledge , permission from a cool land owner , a professional with a good detector ( such as yourself ) and yes a bit of luck all come together !!
Days like these are a rare thing but once in a while they happen and WOWWWWWWWWWWWW !!!
Eagles !!! LOVE those Eagles !!!

Yeah I felt that too--at 5:38 am! I wonder if the five people that live in that area of Illinois survived. Did their pets make it out o.k.?
Nah, seriously though--that was crazy to feel that earthquake all the way over here. :P

Re: The GREATEST hunt of my life: Iron Brigade's THREE BUCKLE DAY
I was thinking the same thing--it never, Ever happens. If leather could've survived, maybe we woulda found the belt too. 8)
UPDATE: I have the name of the property owner when that house was in existence, and I am pursuing information about who he was, when he enlisted, which battles he saw, etc. Battlefield finds are in a way much more "impersonal" than these finds are--and I figure that since we have the great gift of knowing his name, and having most of his uniform brass in our possession, we should at least track down who he was--whatever we can find out. I'm not releasing his name at this point--for the obvious fact that our site is still "open" with potentially more relics to find.
