The Pinnacle of Detecting ... Finding a Pine Tree Shilling !

[The Seeker]

When Detecting old parks you never know what you are going to find. But what happened one day while I was detecting Mill park here in Western New York was unbelievable . This park is dotted with large trees everywhere , so as I started detecting the plan was to go around all the trees first and then hit other areas in the park. The first coin I found was an Indian head Nickle and then some common coins , plus the usual park junk ( pulltabs , bottle tops and pieces of foil like there was no tomorrow) but after a couple of hours it finally happened , I got a great hit at about 6 to 8 inches and I just had that feeling that this could be good .

Now you know when you have that feeling all your thinking is good things but in the back of your mind your also thinking large crushed pop can. So after digging down and going through the dirt I seen silver and it was big .I reached down pulled it out and my heart almost stopped . With a big smile on my face I had a pine tree shilling and I was like a pig in &%$#.......
I could not believe it I finally found one and it was beautiful ,so i just was so happy until I turned it over and said " what the heck is this"..... ...It was a TOKEN.........Haaaaaahahahaha .......That was not a good thing ....and all the excitement had just turned into humor!!!!!!! It was like the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat........all in one swing of the detector!!! so I would say the statement "you never know " would definitely fit this detecting adventure!!!!

Hope you enjoy the token !!!

Great story, darn it anyhow, some darn fool putting
those fake coins in the ground. A guy at the shop
showed me a coin he found in his yard one time, it
was a confederate coin and it too was fake. They
should find that guy and hang him haha.
