When Detecting old parks you never know what you are going to find. But what happened one day while I was detecting Mill park here in Western New York was unbelievable . This park is dotted with large trees everywhere , so as I started detecting the plan was to go around all the trees first and then hit other areas in the park. The first coin I found was an Indian head Nickle and then some common coins , plus the usual park junk ( pulltabs , bottle tops and pieces of foil like there was no tomorrow) but after a couple of hours it finally happened , I got a great hit at about 6 to 8 inches and I just had that feeling that this could be good .

Now you know when you have that feeling all your thinking is good things but in the back of your mind your also thinking large crushed pop can. So after digging down and going through the dirt I seen silver and it was big .I reached down pulled it out and my heart almost stopped . With a big smile on my face I had a pine tree shilling and I was like a pig in &%$#....... ;D ;D
I could not believe it I finally found one and it was beautiful ,so i just was so happy until I turned it over and said " what the heck is this"..... ???...It was a TOKEN.........Haaaaaahahahaha .......That was not a good thing ....and all the excitement had just turned into humor!!!!!!! It was like the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat........all in one swing of the detector!!! so I would say the statement "you never know " would definitely fit this detecting adventure!!!! ;) ;) ;)

Hope you enjoy the token !!!

You always have some great memories when detecting, and this find was one of them! It will always make for a good conversation piece !!! :)

Thanks Seeker

I wouldnt be telling anyone if I were you... ;)....Well outside of the twenty million you just told over the internet...but that would be it... :-*

OK .........I will make sure I say nothing! ;)

I thought the gold coin you got was the pinnacle.

I pine tree just would have been extra icing on the cake already. Still a neat find and a heart stopper for sure.

Aaargh!

If I had found that, Pine Tree side up, you'd have had to hospitalize me. Wow, what an adrenaline rush that must've been.

Still, with the token reverse, it's pretty cool, and probably collectible. Might even have some modest value in its own right. I still count it as a great find.

Knowing what it was when I first found it, I was pumped up ! Knowing I had a nice and rare find.........BUT !! You know the rest of the story! Thanks again and HH

Wouldn't that have been awesome, still an interesting find! Thanks for the experience, LOL and HH, Mike

Between your fake shilling and my fake hundred we are on a roll! Who else has been blindsided by a fake ?

Seeker,
I bet you were not fooled for long. You are very kn owelegable and once the brain kicked in you were probably getting bells and flashing lights going off telling you something was not right. Any way still a nice find. It is a unique token. Almost a one of a kind.

ah what a ripoff but still a good find! Closer than I've come to finding one!
