15 hours later...hopefully you are highbanking away at Waddell!!

About all we got was wet and dirty and tired, but we did get out and managed to have a good time as always. No pics at this time since they're on Sal's phone.

It was the 1st time hiking the highbanker in and we tried to find a shorter trail to where we wanted to go without having to cross the river, let's just say it didn't work out.

Picture 2 very out of shape guys in their late 50's with 40# packs on, crawling over several 4-6' thick downed trees, a forest of devils club, through tangled wads of vine maple for an hour only to finally give up and head straight to the river having to crawl across a big log jam and found we were still about 100yds short of our destination....it was only 200 yds by way of the original trail by the way...and the river had changed since last year so we had no problem crossing to the gravel bar. The walk out took 30 minutes even though we were weighed down with the additional weight of the 6 yellow flakes we found. I guess the area we tested last year gave us good results and the only flakes on the bar.

More prospecting is needed before we take another walk in the woods :icon_scratch: or maybe take an all day trip toward White pass to try out the Cispus river tributaries or maybe to the beach it's a 90 minute drive, but I think I know a short-cut :laughing7:

That is a great sounding day! And a bit of gold to boot! Excited to see pics if they follow. Cheers!

Awe, good old devils club. I don't miss that. One good thing about Utah (no devils club)

Mike glad to hear you and sal got out and had a good time and got some gold.

stay safe

Bill

Sounds great.

I did a similar thing...went on a fishing trip...got there and forgot the gear...

Had a good time and told stories about the big ones that got away...

I tend to feel the best way to prospect is spend a day at one spot. I've had days where I pan everywhere and get a few colors per pan but never feel that I narrow in. Then there are days when you can process loads of material with a Bazooka or highbanker and pull out a decent amount. It's cool when you can associate which layers you dig and the amounts of gold that each hold. I feel that I learn more about an area when I can process more material.

A few pics on the trail? in....

Starting out for the creek

a few logs to climb over

and more logs

oops that's a slick log

Now how the hell do I get out of here

Crap, now where do I go?

Just another normal day mining in Washington State, if you guy's ever want to come up to my area I will show you a good place to mine.

Y'all must have different planets lined up than me. Rained all night here and now it's going to take a long time for things to dry out enough for me to be able to drywash. At this point I'm thinking I might be able to set up the sluice in a wash. If it wasn't for the direction it came in from I'd have sworn it was a monsoon storm. Rain, thunder and lightning and according to the forecast more on the way. This is SUPPOSED to be the frickin desert!!!!

The view out my window in metro Denver right now:

That's awesome that you got to get out, too bad more color didn't show up for you.
Next time you will get it though!

:)

Gonna try for another outing Tues or Weds for some digging fun. I just checked the tides and weather so it looks like perfect timing to go to the beach for some for sure gold......it's frustratingly fine stuff mixed with all heavy black sand but I want to set up our high bankers and my gold cube to run end to end for an 8-10' x 12" beach box using vortex matting. We'll see if that will increase the recovery from a ton of sand.

Which unit gets the primary feed?

Gives me the idea to couple my goldhog mat stream sluice and my homemade cleangold type sluice for use on the Oregon beaches.

Right there with you GI.... been really itching to get out with my Drywasher and every time the window of opportunity opens for me, so do the clouds!!
ARRG!!

Going to start with the high bankers end to end then dumping into the gold cube if I take it.

Might have to use a step ladder or stand in the back of my truck to be able to feed the sand with that much sluice length :laughing7:
