The power to surprise

Me: "I'd like to see how many dimes I could buy from you."

Teller: "Ok, we have some! How many would you like?"

Me: "Oh, maybe 3 or 4 boxes if you have them."

Teller: "Uh....a thousand dollars worth?"

Me: Yeah! That would be great!"

Teller: Let me see....(down the line) do we have a thousand dollars of dimes?"

Other tellers in turn: "....a thousand dollars of dimes?"

Me: "Yup. I love to buy dimes very very much."

 

[Piledriver]

Me: "I have some coin I would like to turn in for cash"

Teller: "Wow, I guess you do...umph...these are really heavy!"

Me: "Sorry. I guess there are a few there. About a thousand dollars."

Other teller (watching the first one lugging the bags to the coin machine):

"Did you save all those up?"

Me: "No...I'm a coin collector. I go through a coin or two."

Teller: "It looks like it."

 

[Piledriver]

Me: "Do you have any dimes to sell me this week?"

Teller: (looking concerned) I'm not sure...I'll have to check...you bought all we could spare last week....we have to keep some on hand...maybe next week."

Me: "I totally understand, and that is OK!....I'll be back next week."

 

[Piledriver]

Teller: (Lugging the boxes to the counter)...umph!.....well that ought to keep you for a while.."

Me: "Thank you so very much" (To self: 10 minutes per box.)"
