Evening all. Hope everyone's doing well. Following is my search for the last 11 days. Finds have been way down over the last few weeks,even the nickel boxes aren't producing like they were. Still, some keepers were recovered. There's always next week though. Here goes.
4/17/11-My wife and i made some bank stops while running some errands. 1st stop was penny arcade, then we stopped at a 2nd bank and dropped off 3 bags of halves and picked up a box of nickels(Brinks). I stopped at a 3rd branch but they couldn't spare any boxes,bought $10 in cents there(Brinks). Stopped at 1 more branch and picked up a box of nickels and dimes(Brinks). One box of nickels produced another dateless type 1 1913 Buffalo and the 2nd box produced 2 war nickels(both 1943-P) and a 2001 Panama coin. The box of dimes had no silver and the cents produced 8 common wheats and 4 common Canadian cents.
4/18/11-Used penny, then picked up 10 rolls of cents, nickels and dimes from each of 4 different banks(40 rolls total of cents, nickels and dimes)
1st Set of 10- Dimes( no silver and a 2005 2 Grosze coin)-Nickels(a nice 1927 Canadian nickel and a 1980 Canadian nickel, both out of customer rolls)-Cents(3 common wheats, 2 common Canadian cents)(Most of the rolls from the 1st set were customer rolls)
2nd Set of 10(All machine rolled-Garda)-Nothing in the dimes or nickels, cents had 5 common wheats and a canadian.
3rd Set of 10(Mix of customer and machine rolls) only 3 wheats, nothing in the nickels or dimes
4th Set of 10(Mostly machine rolled-Garda)Nothing in the dimes, nickels had a 43-P, cents had 4 wheats and 4 canadians.
4/19/11-Bought a box of cents and dimes(brinks) and didn't see any silver on a edge search. Stopped at 3 more banks and picked up a total of 40 rolls of nickels(Garda). Nickel finds were 1-1943-P,a 2005 1 Krone,s 1983 20 Pence, and a 1971 Trinidad and Tobaco 5 cents. Went thru some of the cents, so far only 3 wheats and 1 common Canadian.
4/20/11-Went thru the rest of the cents(7 more common wheats and 2 Canadian). Bought a box of nickels(Brinks)(1-1935 Buffalo and 2 Canadian nickels 2006,1986). Bought one box of halves(Garda)(2 proofs, 1974-S,1993-S)
4/21/11-Used penny arcade today and had a small incident happen that had me thinking. A teenager comes in after me and is talking on her cellphone while waiting. I fill up the machine so the teller opens it up and replaces the bag. I then resume dumping the rest of my change. One lonely dime rolls out of the return and right in front of the young lady who promptly puts her foot on it. Only after i walked away did she pick up her foot and pick it up, i saw that over my shoulder. I know it's only 1 lousy dime but it's her lack of honesty that i'm talking about here. Anyway, I had bought 2 boxes of nickels earlier(Both Brinks). 1st box had 2 war-nickels(1943-P,1944-P)and a 1998 Canadian nickel. I stopped at my next bank and bought a box of halves(Garda)(Skunk). Did the 2nd box of nickels(No war or buffalo but it had 1989,1992 and 1993 Canadians, a 1997 Bermuda 5 cents, and a 2009 25 kurus from Turkey).
4/22/11- Used penny arcade,then picked up a box of halves from my 1st stop(Garda). This box was a little unusual as it contained 14 gold plated bicentennials and 1-40%er, a 1966. Deposited a bag of halves at my 2nd stop, then bought $10 in cents at a 3rd bank. Picked up 3 more boxes of halves(Garda) from my 4th bank stop along with $10 in customer rolled cents. $10 more in cents from my 5th stop. At my 6th and last stop of the day, i asked for $10 in cents and $40 in nickels. She could only sell me $20 in nickels but was willing to sell me up to $30 in cents(Garda). To show my appreciation, i gave her one of the gold plated halves from earlier. It was the 1st one she ever saw. Anyway, the 1st box of halves was a skunk, 2nd box had 1-40%er(1967) and a 1998 50 pence, and the 3rd box had 1-64 and 1-40%er(1969-D).The $20 in nickels(Garda) had 1 war nickel(1945-P). The cents(mix of customer and machine rolled) $60 in cents had 29 wheats(oldest 1923) and 22 Canadians(oldest 1959).There were also quite a few clad dimes mixed in the customer rolls.
4/23/11-Dropped off 3 bags at TD, then bought 3 boxes of nickels(Brinks) from each of 3 different branches. Only had time to do one box(1945-P war nickel and 3 modern Canadians).
4/24/11- All banks closed for Easter Sunday. Spent the day metal detecting and made a few good finds. Searched a 2nd nickel box, no war or buffalo nickels.
4/25/11-Dumped at penny arcade(made 2 stops). Started the 3rd box of nickels(so far no war or buffalo).
4/26/11-Picked up a box of quarters, dimes, nickels and cents(all Brinks except the quarters which were Garda)The quarters had no silver, the dimes had 1-1946. Dumped at penny arcade. Finished up the 3rd box of nickels(1945-P war nickel and a modern Canadian). I picked up a nickel from the floor of my truck, it was a 1944-P. No idea where it came from. I finished today's nickel box, it had 2 wars(1944-S,1945-P). Also searched the cent box, it had 36 wheats(1915,1928,1937,1939,balance 40s and 50s) and 9 common canadian cents.
4/27/11- Picked up a box of halves from each of 2 different banks(Garda) 1st box had only 1 silver but it was a nice 1943 Walker. 2nd box was a skunk. Also picked up $10 in cents(Garda)(8 wheats,oldest (2)1936),1 modern Canadian.
