2-11-11 Took a trip North to where there was an old house ruins . This was another place that took some time to locate. Low and behold there were still some oldies left . I found a saddle or harness mount , an old US Army lock , on the trail to the ruins .The shield still has gold gilt , a first with some shine left . Half mile hike through the woods . Not much of the place remains , part of a stone foundation and some bricks . Dug the usual junk and two cents . A 1846 M & S stamped & 1850 with bullet hole . 8) It has been awhile for coins here ...second and third since Jan .first . Hope your ok in the snow areas Spring is on it's way . HH , CMD

The "bullet hole" on the one LC looks more like a square nail hole to me. Just figured you'd wanna know. Love the counterstamped too. Nice finds!

Dawg,
I'm not sure which of your relics I like best. :icon_scratch: That stamped LC is very cool, as is the old lock.
I have about three of those shields myself. Great job on the research. :occasion14:

I like the shield then the lock then the coin :icon_scratch: but the lock may be CW era , I guess the coin may be nicer looking than the lock :icon_scratch: but the shield is very cool ... never mind :-\ Those shield harness mounts are very cool 8) "you dug three". 8) Research then search seems easy but you know it's takes time . Thanks dug

1846 is a survivor with min. corrosion, I wish they all looked that sweeT .Thanks ...All relics and coins were discovered with a 1987 FISHER 1265 X

The shield looks like a scabbard tip to a sword or knife.
