Gold button found 16 inches in thick gray clay in the river.I think it from the 1700s.found with the excal

Thank you for the pic ! I guess there are no hallmark/s , Any chance this might have been a cuff link ? The reason I ask is that
I have seen several gold cuff links and zero gold buttons over the years . Whatever it was - it is a rare and special find ! and I'm
guessing at least 18K , and possibly 22K ! Keep us posted when you get it tested .
