Arkansas is called the Razorback State so maybe they can take the blame for coddling wild hogs. New Mexico has been seeing them for a bit probably roaming in from Texas. NM received a grant to study what to do about them. A whole $25000. That won't buy much study. I would think if it's known they are tasty and open season what with BBQ time coming up they might become extinct or protected depending on what party in in power.
NM began to take notice just a few years ago in the SE parts. It looks like ranchers help the population grow by providing water and mud to frolic in. A hog is never far from mud.
A pig hunter said a problem is that the hogs are smarter than he is. I'm glad he didn't say "smarter than WE are."
