THing & wild pigs

I conseal carry a flask, and some sandwiches....:laughing7:

SS

That's about all you can carry now in the UK.. you've given up your firearms... no switchblades... It is also an offence to have a knife with a blade longer than 100mm on your person.

Guess my little knife wouldn't set well over there?

I had a girlfriend in Cleveland, TN once upon a time. Nice town!

Nice gal too, but Lordy! I was supposed to work for a living and supply all her needs.... At least I realized the load I would be bearing!

Not totally given up all the gun rights, but yes knifes are banned, at least the one's like yours.

Do you mean Cleveland in America, or here?

OOPS!!! Didn't see the British flag :(

Guess I was looking at Number9's post....

Apologies - but I'm sure you have pretty girls there too :)

I had a girlfriend from Cleveland, TN too... town's OK, but I live about 6 miles east.

But, after 45 years of marriage... I made the right choice!!

A law against switchblades is silly. Anyone with reasonable dexterity can flip open a knife designed to flip open probably as fast. I don't know today but it was a crime to shorten a shotgun barrel more than 12 inches, aka sawed off. . OK but you can legally carry a gun with a lot more fire power legally. So, what's the point? Probably like the pot laws. Anyone with a switchblade and a sawed off shotgun must be a criminal so.... We can't catch the perp in a crime we will catch them on these laws.
Where's the NRA when ya need them and why aren't they protecting my right to carry switchblades and sawed offs? I mean, what if I'm only proficient in the use of these weapons and wonder why they aren't protected 2nds.
Oh ya, back to the pot laws. Some of the early instigators of the 1939 tax act were thought to believe as a way to increase the chance of convictions. Catching drug users with "hard drugs" was slim lets roll pot into the same laws. We can always catch someone with pot.
I don't think saying you carry a switchblade is illegal. Probably protected Free speech. It's just wrong getting caught. I don't think you can say "Lets carry a switchblade together." Conspiracy to commit a crime is illegal.
Maybe law falls into the great chasm of WTF. It was law in Minnesota that a woman's underwear and a mans could not be hung on the same clothesline.
Maybe we need another Hunter S. Thompson. Like Hunter said "I don't recommend alcohol. drugs, or insanity for most people, but it's always worked for me."

Ain't Nothing Illegal til You Get Caught!

Laws are made for the betterment of ALL.
The last word "all" is very important, I see the word as being plural.. not singular.
If I make moonshine for myself only, without it being consumed by anyone else, in my eyes no law was broken.
If I decide to grow Indica this time and not Sativa without anyone else getting any, in my eyes no law was broken.
Yes, they say even possession is against the law. I guess they are afraid someone else would be harmed by my actions?
So, I'm innocent until proven guilty... so no law is broken on my part until proven...
Oh, I've never been to court!:laughing7:

And considering my only run in with the cops was when I was 5 years old, and the crazy neighbor called them cause I walked on his grass.. Lol

Bet you were glad you didn't have your switchblade that day, walking on someone's grass, how dare you!!!:nono::whip2:

On the subject of wild pigs, there are many here where I live, the best bet is to be able to climb the closest tree, a pistol unless you're a great shot in a quick manner and it's of a large enough caliber will not stop a wild pig unless you hit it in a kill spot on the first or possibly a second quick shot, tough critters they are, and if you aren't armed pick a good size tree, most wild pigs will not leave right away, they may even try to uproot the tree, if you are armed climbing the tree will give you plenty of time to pop off many more rounds!!!

I don't cause I don't think they are in my area, but after reading about a mugging recently, I want something for protection like mace at least. I could get a weapon but
have'nt committed to that yet. Last weekend I was on a trail in St.Forest (PA) and a mountain lion crossed the path way up ahead. Those guys are stealthy -and they'll stalk you. A guy (in Europe) was attacked a few months ago by wild pigs. He's ok.

If ya get out to western Susquehanna county, Bradford county ect keep and eye out the have been shot in the northern areas there. Souther tier NY is getting them pretty bad now.

And a Mountain Lion in PA ... .....the Game Commision tells us we dont have them :laughing7::dontknow: but it is illegal to shoot them and the Game Commision has a task force for them. :BangHead:

They've been in the mountains of Southwest Virginia for many years.

When I was a child in the 1950's, going into the woods, my grandmother would always tell me to watch out for the hogs.

My father in law lives in Potter County PA and he saw a mountain lion a few years back. There was no confusing it . It was near the road along a stream, slinking through the tall grass .

My farm is way back up in a holler. Mom saw a mountain lion in our front yard a few years back. She said it was much larger than she expected!

The coyotes here love to dine on pet cats....

Hi ,There's not a law anywhere in the world about these . Get a proper one , it will return to your hand , no reloads required and if it does not returned to ,you just decked what ever or who ever you just threw it at.

tinpan:laughing9::laughing9::laughing9:

Oh my, my post has been waylaid. I think I will start a new post for the women here on what to do to protect ones self.

Yet to see a wild hog up here, black bears yup.
not while detecting, but last year a mom & two cubs were spotted at the stream in back of our home.
As far as defense, I saw a television interview (I searched online, can't find it, gotta be somewhere though, was on animal planet, discovery or history channel. maybe someone can find it, it is incredible hearing the story from the man)
With 69 year old hunter Gene Moe, while butchering a deer he had just downed in AK, he was attacked by a 900 lb grizzly,
during the attack he stabbed it in the neck with his Buck 110 folding knife (My dug example below), it' maybe 3-3/4' blade.
after stabbing her, he gave her a roundhouse punch in the jaw that finished severing her spinal cord that the knife wound started.
Here's two links to the story, but the interview is a MUST SEE! someone please find it :)

This stuff works great, I had doubts until I was hit with a dose, feels nice and cool when it first hits you,
within seconds you can think of nothing but the pain, and fluids gushing from every hole in your face
as you roll on the floor in agony.
