Well my fellow T-Net friends I have located another vacant lot in my little town. I have gained permission from the owner, (a local attorney) my first afternoon at this place I did a quick sweep and discovered it is going to be a challenge. It seems at one point there was an automotive shop next door and they must have thrown all there scrap into this lot. I have already dug two buckets of scrap with only two wheats to show for it
But enough of my whining.
While I was detecting this lot the other next door neighbor pulls up and asks if I have found anything, and I tell him the same story about the scrap.
He then says you should detect my yard, this place has been here a long time and has some history. Besides I'd like to see what you find here.
Here is where things get a little weird, you see his place is a funeral home located across the street from the county court house.
I did a quick sweep of the area and only heard a hand full of solid signals, but the problems is all the attention that I drew while there.
Already passer byers are giving me the looks and occasional comments about being there, and I haven't even dug a target yet. So I guess my question is should I pass on this opportunity or go for it?
Here are some pictures to add to the story:
My wife came by and took these and can't believe I'm even considering the idea.
Thanks and HH
Dan
Update:
Ok folks went back to the funeral home and dug a few targets, then the rain came so I had to quit.
As you can see this may be a good spot after all, I think I can put up with a little ridicule if the finds are going to be like this.
Not sure if you can make out the large coin on the left, but it is a 1902 V nickel. And the ring is 14kt electroplate, OH WELL its a ring.
Three wheaties 1923s, 1925s and 1951s a cool corsair and the largest bullet casing I've dug, it measures 1 3/4"x 1/2" and appears to be from the 1800s.
I think I'll will take my time at this place so not to miss a thing.
Thanks again for the encouragement.

Why not? If you've got permission--go for it. No one has a right to complain--just make sure they don't have a visitation scheduled, and keep it neat. And if you're really worried about it, do it between 1pm and 4pm on a weekday when many folks are at work...or even perhaps an early Saturday morning when nothing is scheduled. Just make sure you stay in good contact with the owner about when you'll be hunting.
Doh!
