Hey all, I am real sorry these flus is kicking butts. I would say; Let food be your medicine and medicine be your food.
I know the appetite can be down when sick, but try and force yourself to eat lots of fruits and veggies. Keep yourself hydrated with natural juices, water, and soups.
DON"T take any of that air-borne stuffs or things that kick-start your immune system, especially if you already are sick. Your immune system has already kicked in. When you over kick it, it can actually make you feel worse (kinda like, too much of a good thing).
If it has settled in your lungs, do deep breathing exercises, 3 to 4 times an hour, or as much as you can remember to. Inhale deeply through your nose, exhale through your mouth. Do this about 4 times each time you do it. Don't hyperventilate yourself though. This will help to clear fluid and nasties from your lungs. Helps to stave off pnuemonia and/or pleurisy
Disinfect the common areas of your home so you don't re-infect yourselves or other family members. The light switches, commode handle, sink handles, stove knobs, door knobs, drawer handles, etc..... You get the idea.
Keep positive thoughts and make positive statements. What the mind dwells upon, the body acts upon. The mind will usually grasp the last few words of a statement. (So instead of saying things like, I'm so sick, so sick, so sick, I feel bad, feel bad feel bad) Tell yourself, I am fighting hard to get well get well get well. My body is healing, healing, healing. I will be well soon, be well soon, be well soon.
These are the things I do, when I am sick, which is very rarely. This is best advice I know, for the generally healthy folks. If you have any additional factors (heart/lung problems, diabetes, compromised immune systems, etc.), then DO see your doctor for best course remedies.
Stay strong all, and you will be up and at 'em, real soon, real soon, real soon!
