Man's 'treasure chest' find disappoints

A Dargaville man thought he had hit the jackpot when he discovered a full treasure chest on a local beach.

Locals found the wooden and leather trimmed case at Glinks Gully on Sunday night, after bad weather washed it ashore.

Geoff Nichols says when they dragged it to the dunes the latch fell off and it opened. He says it was full to the brim with Cadbury Crunchie bars and Milky Ways and all sorts of other goodies.

Mr Nichols says most of the chocolate bars have a use-by date of 2006. He says he has not opened any of them, but the Crunchie bars are still hard.

oh hell THATS FUNNY

Wow, I'd be so disappointed... but I think I would be laughing uncontrollably!

so was the chest part of a promotional campaign?
There might be something to this. - big
It might be that the candy company did an advertising campaign
If you find the chest, you would win money
I think they did something similar with Volvo?
I would be all over this, contacting the candy company for an explanations
nothing to loos by asking
