I had about an hour to kill this eve, so I decided I would try my old standby. The first signal was wheat penny(1942). So I figured it might be an ok day..Dug several more clad coins, then I saw a piece of what looked like green metal on the ground. I went over it with the detector and gave out a yelp..but something sounded strange..sounded like several sigs...so I kicked it to the side and went over it again..Got a loud Q tone....Dug about 2 inches and I see something silver looking in the hole..When I plucked it out it was a 1927 SLQ....My first...I had to save the green wire thingy..if it wasn't for that I wouldn't have even checked..I had to put the wire thingy in the pic......Ok Nick old buddy...I'm one up on you now.....Thanks for looking and good luck to all.

Way to go SC.
Just in the "NICK" of time. ;D
Please keep finding stuff, so I can see all of that delicious food. I married an Italian hoping for all that great food, but all I get is Chef Boy-ar-de'. :'( :'( :'(
Congrats,
MM

Very nice find. A SLQ. To die for. I think the first time I unearth one of those I will have to buy a lottery ticket right after. Never have found one.....yet. Did find quite a few of those wire thingies or their cousins. Have tons of them. May be that they are markers for the SLQ. I must have just miss them...darn..

Congrats on a fine find.
:o

This is from Coin Resource
The ( M ) is the desinger of the SLQ
HH Jim

The first coins came off the presses December 16, 1916, and the series continued through 1930, during which time over 226 million coins were struck at three different mints: Philadelphia (no mintmark), San Francisco (S), and Denver (D). The mintmark can be found just to the left of the date, while the designer's initial M is to the right. No coins were struck in 1922, and no proofs were authorized, although several satin-finish proofs of 1916 and 1917 are reported to exist.

Very nice! I found my second SLQ today myself, I don't think they will ever get old!

Congratulations on a great looking SLQ. Even has a date. ;D ;D

I had some good eats for lunch(grilled marinated steak, fresh pasta salad, etc) but I was so hungry I ate it before taking a picture. ;)
