This week's Civil war camp hunts, 2nd Kepi letter - video

Got out on Saturday with a coach from the local high school for a 4 hour hunt on a new piece of land, then today went back to the same yard I've been hunting and pulled another nice kepi letter. The relics are about half saturday, half today. :)

Jeff, you picked up in Missouri where you left off in Virginia. Not as old, but still quality relics! Are you going to one of the DIV's in March?

won't be able to make this one Steve.. will try for the fall hunt if possible. Good Luck :icon_thumleft:

It doesn't matter where you go Jeff, it seems you find the CW stuff all over. Nice save on the 2nd Kepi :icon_thumright:

Thanks Mike, very glad to have it. Was surprised to find it as the "decent" signals in the yard are dwindling.

Jeff , a fellow member Baldingboy from Missouri commented in my thread that he wishes he could find buttons like the ones that are found here in Jersey . He also goes on to write that he has a problem finding buttons in Mo. :o I advised him to see your threads of the buttons you dig because you have found few eagle buttons in Missouri .. dawg

Kitchen knife with a bone or wood handle. Nice digs. The letters and insignia are my favorite things to find. You are in a nice little camp. I hope a trash pit turns up, nothing like civil war glass..

I think the whole backyard is a trash pit.. seems every hole has ash and broken bottles :o I got into one hole today and dug down a couple feet and pulled out 100+ square nails and bottle pieces, don't think there are any whole ones there :-\

You should probe that hole. I would be that is a privy. If it is I would be you may find a few US plates in there.

FANTASTIC! Those things are hard to find, and even harder to find in beautiful condition like your two have been. The plows are not kind to those!

Congratulations!

I sure love seeing you go to Missouri and finding the "good stuff"! 2 regimental letters in as many weeks is fantastic not to mention that they came out of the ground in pretty good shape they will display very nicely in the ruler box with your other finds, congrats brutha and look forward to hopefully reuniting for some digging this spring and summer :headbang:: :occasion14:

I do envy people that live in the south being able to find CW artifacts.. Great finds, but in keeping with my envious side.

Pat Sajak wants to know if you also want to buy a vowel to go with that Kepi letter :tongue3:

Jeff, this post is the testament of a sharp digger! You are a great relic hunter, one of the best I've dug with, and the fact that you moved to Missouri and soon after, start finding terrific relics left and right where others have tried and largely failed is a tribute to the fact. Congratulations again on some fantastic finds! :occasion14:
