I'm supposed to be outside right now doing some stonework & building a planter, but it's cooler in the house. AND my wife's out shopping.
I thought I'd sneak this post in.
I'm still gridding off the plantation house pasture during my lunch time, and will hopefully finish it off this coming week. I'm up to the top of the hill now (close to the house) and there is a lot of trash and melted metal pieces (lead).
I'm kind of disappointed that my oldest coin in this pasture has been a crusty 1881 IH so far. A lot of buttons and bullets though.
I was able to do a good deed for the guy ("Cowboy") that boards his horses and leases the pasture land. I was detecting Friday and he came out to see how I was doing. He said he had lost a tow bar off of his tractor some time ago and couldn't find it anywhere even after pulling a big rake through there. He said he tried to order a new one, but couldn't.
Now here's the good part.... I had just found it with my detector about 10 minutes before that. It was buried in a large area of hay & horse cr-p.
He couldn't believe it when I told him the good news. He even offered to give me some $, which I would not take. It was a reward just seeing his smiling face. I've made a good friend since I've been detecting this plantation property.
Here's last weeks lunch finds. Nothing too great unfortunately:
*TWO bullets in one hole!!! One 3-ringer and one cleaner (drops).
*"Plated London" flat button.
*Wreath backmark flat button w/shank.
*Two tiny decorative buttons, and a 4-hole button.
*Asst's latches, lead chunk, pottery shards, 1948 wheat, buckles, and a "Wm. Rogers & Sons" spoon.
Have a great week,
MM
