Thought I would share some of our finds from a one day outing in Georgia

My wife and I spent our vacation in Georgia and hired a guy to take us fossil hunting. We thought it would be a fun outing but did not hold out much hope of finding much of anything. We were in for a big surprise! Within the first 5 minutes we found our first megalodon tooth and from there it was nothing short of a dream. One of the islands we were on was literally a bone graveyard. The beach was not too long, maybe 200 yards, but there were bones scattered everywhere! I found a large hip bone that was about 12 inches square. Because we flew to Georgia we were limited on what we could take back. We found a small solid black item that resembled a tooth but there were not roots to is. It was almost "turd like" but the top clearly resembled a molar. Somehow, it's been misplaced so I hope to post a picture of it soon. The two indian relics were local finds here in Illinois. I assume the one is a large scrapper, maybe for deer hides etc.

Does anyone know what the two pieces are that are all black and tubular? Tusk? Leg bones? Also, is the piece of rock with scales in it skin? As you can tell, I don't know much about fossils other than an interest I had in them as a kid. This trip certainly allowed my wife and I to relieve those memories!

I think 'CFlD' is correct . . . dugong rib bone fragments. The conical tooth appears to be 'gator. The netlike film on the rock is a bryozoan and may be fossil or recent.

The tubular fossil with the rings . . . are they rings or is it a spiral?
