Three day trip to the beach was a severe disappointment

Me and the wife went to beach for 3 days, and nothing much to show for it..
1 Quarter, 1 Dime, 1 Nickel, 3 Pennies and a smattering of trash.. Clearly hypersensitive to small stuff. Note the earring pin ? and small ball earring that looks gold but doesn't seem to hold up to acid, the small earring back, and several targets I couldn't find. The small half ring is supposed to be silver but my acid is not seeming to be testing right.. even known silver is being eaten through...
Although we did not stay in one place long, we went to Hilton Head, SC (dime) Kiawah Island SC (nickel) Isle of Palms SC (pennies) and Folly Island SC (quarter)

Everything you find at the beach is a context clue that will tell you more about it, and derivatively how to better hunt for treasure. Modern or otherwise. Finding junk jewelry is actually a very good sign.

Ex:
1. Who goes there or went there.
2. When they go or went there.
3. What they do / did there.
4. Age of your finds tells you about erosion levels, as well as beach topography, mushy sand, black sand, cuts, depths of targets etc.
5. Types of finds will tell you about the demographics of people there, how wealthy, etc.

Just because you don't find valuables on a trip, doesn't mean they aren't out there on the beach. Most trips I went on early on, I didn't find anything valuable. Now I'm more methodical, and picky about when and where I go out. Theoretically, you can find treasure anywhere, it's a numbers game. Your goal is to make intelligent and informed decisions to reduce the luck factor and enhance the skill factor.
