Got out with Tony for a days worth of detecting. As is our custom we started at one of our existing permissions early in the morning to kill time before we started door knocking for new permissions. We didn't have much hope for this first beat site but it ended up being the best site of the day. Picked up the usual assortment of buttons as well as a detailed 1815 Halifax ship token...half penny to be exact. Find of the day came in the form of a rare provincial silver...1872 Newfoundland 10 cent! It's in decent condition so I am happy to add this to my silver horde.
We moved on to seek permission for a piece of land I'd been eyeing for a while and received it without any begging or pleading. Unfortunately the site was a bust even though it started out good. Between the two of us we found close to 30 of those trunk reinforcements. Unfortunately that is about all we found. I did get another silver dime but not very old, 1937.
Last site of the day was another beat site but a new strip had just been mowed for the first time so I focused on that. Found a couple old buttons, a saddle shield and a couple musket balls. Nothing extraordinary but still nice to be pulling targets from another beat site.
I'm off on vacation after tomorrow and have a lot of detecting lined up...this has been my best fall in a long time so hoping to build on that.
