Had a great day hunting with Tombac back at the two hundred acre farm. The farmer came out with an assortment of homemade cookies and the best peanut brittle I ever had. His wife is quite a goodies maker. I will make sure to hunt near the farm house every time I go. We moved to a sweet spot in the field and it was non stop. Between the lead, good targets, and crappola, many holes were dug. Tombac found a beautiful silver pocket knife, and two of the three Trimes along with a handful of smalls. The navy button is a sixteen star 23mm. I could not find the same version with the wide open mouth and the appropriate backmark. Two coppers, four large cents and two half cents, one flying eagle penny, three Indian head, a buffalo nickel, and a 1856 Trime were the coins I dug. The suspender has a date of 1876 and depicts maybe a horse track or a fair of some kind. Pulled three blowhole buttons, three tombacs, and an assortment of flats, decorative, and ball buttons.

Totally great finds!

That's an amazing number of 3-centers for just a single hunt Artie. Nice job on the other coins and relics too, and that includes the cookies and peanut brittle you "found".

I think i found some info on your button."Navy 1-piece convex. The device with the anchor on a lined oval shield,16stars. Armitage/phila'a rm; 21mm.rv 40." Found on Page 92 in the Record of American Uniform and Historical Buttons. By Alphaeus H. Albert.. Awesome finds..

Thanks, the button is 23mm. The backmark reads, Treble Gilt, StanD Coluor. The D in standard is in a smaller font that is capitalized.

ModernMiner "His wife is quite a goodies maker. I will make sure to hunt near the farm house every time I go."

Thanks Bill, We couldn't believe it, a Trime three peat. Out of everything that day I think the peanut brittle was the most memorable. I think I'm part seagull.

Thank you all for your kind replies...

The bonuses of metal detecting sometimes are very noticable. Especially when they are in the shape of cookies...
