The old pewters sometimes swell up,
I'm gonna hijack with one of my favorites: The Mushroom :laughing9:
Best Digs to You
Yep that's the look. :laughing9:
But what can you do?I just hope I look that good 300 to 400yrs from now. ;D
I talked about ones that seem to be lead & I circled a couple below. As you can see the patina is even different.Came from the same area as some of the rest but are surely more lead then the others in the mix. Also something that needs urathane.

Seems the higher lead alloys hold up better,
I'll dig the same style buttons, same area, probably from same period, and some are still beautifully smooth, others beautifully blistered and swollen.
as I am speaking of salt mud buttons, I don't often get to see the 'lead patina' like the one in your photo.
Here's what I mean,

Great finds Pete :icon_thumleft:, and thanks for the info on the musket/pistol part. I found one last year and I have been scratching my head about it ever since, and now you have answered that question :laughing7:. All I have to do is remember where I put it now :tongue3:. Also, I have a set of candelabra that have similar shapes and castings to your pewter finds, the feet on them are almost spot on.

Thanks Hammered,
For reply & info on the decorative parts. I had started changing my mine for awhile thinking maybe some fancy old clock parts but that sheds new light on them, they came from the late 1800's maybe very early 1900's site.Does that sound about right for yours (time frame)?
Take Care,
Pete, :hello:

Thanks Breezie,

Pete, :hello:

Haha :laughing9:
'Funky Black Rotten mix' Love that stuff, I got an area that was a dump for cow or pig bedding, talk about funky :tongue3:
That is where all those NH buttons were buried
This months lows are over, May has some short lows 3-7th & 12-19th, but nothing like the -1.9 we got last week.
I don't think we'll see double digit lows again till early October >:(
Back to the forest for a while.
I managed to pull a small copper spoon from a Pounded 'Town Pound' area yesterday. (some of the pounding was me last year, I dug 4 largies from the roads leading to it :hello2: )
oh yeah, and 4 ticks. Though I was slick with DEET.
Not the greatest hunt, but not the worst. Guess I can still wear the name spoonman.
Will be searching Mud and farmland today.
Best to you, love those pistol parts

I found something exactly like that square copper (or brass) that was shaped like an "A" in the box, it had a lot of screw holes in it. any idea what that is? I didn't keep the one I found thinking it was probably trash...now I'm wondering... ???

 I like the process it takes to load those Flintlock pistols. I also enjoy the smell of the black power when it's fired. That's a really nice hand pistol. :headbang:

:o

Wow Pete you seem to have a right old hot spot there :o I am just waiting for the big find, that is just around the corner for you....I'm sure of that :icon_thumleft:
