You will never disappoint in the Colonial sense, Pete. The coast of NC is just swarming with relics and pottery. I would put those pretty sherds right in your plant pots. :icon_thumleft:  Your wife is one spoiled bride. ;D Not many wives around Colonial USA have their pots littered with Colonial pottery. I know of at least two: Kirk PA's bride and Timekiller's bride. ;D :laughing7: We definitely spoil our women with beauty and love, my friend. :headbang:

Kirk :hello:

The finds are noteworthy for sure but what impresses me the most is the clean up! Wow, nice job on two fronts.

Nice bunch of recoveries there Pete, congrats :icon_thumright:

for those who might not know about the musket part it be like this. And very well could be from this gun as the site dates that old & I'm sure as small as my piece is it came from a pistol.

circa. dated, 1759

A Fine and Rare British Military Heavy Dragoon pattern Type II flintlock pistol by; "GALTON" and dated "1759". 12", .56 cal. round steel barrel w/(2) Tower proofs, (1) inspector marks on barrel tang. The lock is marked; "GALTON", "1759", a "CROWN" over "GR" (King George II) and a "CROWN" over the "BROAD ARROW" (Government ownership). Brass regulation furniture. Stock is marked; w/stores keeper mark just above the tail of lock plate, (2) inspector marks just above the edge of the right side of the trigger guard; a "CROWN" over "1". The stock is solid w/normal scratches and dings from years of service w/stable split at the wrist and some minor loses around the lock mortis. 19.5" overall length. In good working order. An excellent example of the most graceful and desirable of the British military patterns and may have seen service at the end of the French and Indian War, 1757-1763 and the American Revolutionary War, 1776-1783.

Ref: See; BATTLE WEAPONS of the American Revolution. by, George C. Neumann. c. 1998, pp. 14, 234.

That button with the exaggerated shank... never saw anything like it.

It would be really cool if you could fish up the rest of the gun.

Cast pewter although some I find I think are true lead as they weigh more then others of the same size & tend not to look as bad either. But I've found many many many now. :D  Hard to say a date as they are common from 16th,17th,early 18th century.Like the oldies not much to look at as it seems you see one you've seen them all but wrap in our history of the first people to come to our country. And that's good enough for me.
Take Care,
Pete, :hello:

Nice finds, Pete! Thought you had a 1/4 pistareen for a sec :tongue3: dang Tombacs :laughing9:

Yes... it would be nice to find the rest of that pistol, but I think Mr. Teach hung onto the balance of it. ;) Should we refer to you as Pistol Pete from now on?

Nice relics!!

Congrats

Nutria

I like the old musket part, it was probably something I would have trashed years ago, but Tnet has taught me better

Can't see one coming from here on the coast being in very good shape unless it was a Bronze barrel gun, just to bad of a enviroment.Unless you could get lucky & find one that has stayed sumerged under water.I think when finds are at a level were it's in and out of water & air it's just to much & can't get that incrustation build on it before it rot's away.Got quite a few decroative parts from these old muskets now.Yes I hunt in areas that Old Edward Teach roamed for sure."Pistol Pete" been called that before but not on here. :laughing7:

Pistol Pete, :hello:

Thanks Cru,
Go Tnet, :D  But I think after awhile & getting a feel for things it comes easyier. But I still do as I've always done with things I know are old & not sure about. Get layed aside & over time either my curiosity,or the power of the internet (Tnet) will have a answer for it.(most of the time) :D
Take Care,
Pete, :hello:

Finding that part helped me put the end to this part I've been holding also think I may have found two parts yesterday the other being from a trigger guard. At the other site though.
