Time to move on

Understood, I am forum admin myself... one thing I can say is that I never let member contributions guide my preferences in regards to the opinions of my members. However...

Something to remember about Private property where the idea of the Public is encouraged.... encourage the public to chime in.... if not... then select a choir and preach to it.

.
I like those statements.........:icon_thumleft:

Okay guys before this thread gets out of hand let me clear some things up

First I absolutely love this site and the people on it me leaving has nothing to do with the site it's rules or people

Secondly I'm done posting here but not done coming here there are a lot of people's post I enjoy seeing so I will still check them out

Thirdly this site has rules that we all know about and if you don't like them then leave plain and simple rules are rules and shouldn't be bent to cater certain people

Lastly me leaving is because I want to dedicate my time to a new forum I'm posting my finds to 4 places and it's time consuming so now I will only post to you tube and the new site I hope this clears some things up take care guys happy hunting.... ps the mods do a great job running this place take it easy on em

The problem getting with TreasureNet...is there are more Cheifs than Indians...the exodis started a while back, and could snowball, the problem with the outher sites, which I am a member of over there...is they are not live enough, what I mean by this, is the replies tend to take a longer, proberbly due to lack of members in numbers, but that could change.

I dont biotch too much and I do love this site but something happened recently that really is bugging me the more I think about it...it seems as though it was even rubbed in my face.......A TV show producer pops up and is asking about two major treasures...now...I dont want anymore TV shows, but that is my personal beleif and I will no longer argue about that.I posted that it would be stupid for somebody to go on national TV and find any major treasure the IRS would take it and The Gov. would likely imprison you.................it was deleted and followed by an over joyous welcome and pointed out that this Producer was a PAID advertiser....by TWO MODS(who I do respect even though I get the feeling from one,I am not on their "friend list"....so be it)I am a PAID MEMBER here, and besides the point...it wasnt an opinion...it is fact!So is this what T Net is to become??

Our daily traffic has surpassed what it was before sale a long time ago. TN is still #1 and growing.

Mods stay busy putting out lots of fires as well as site issues. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes members are not aware of, and it seems some members constantly forget this is a private business with public access. We are only mods, someone else owns this business..

THUNTER,Pm sent and feel free to delete my post, but you as Mods are the Mouth of the site....we have no other option than to bring our concerns to you.Perhaps I should have PMed my gripe, but as stated(I now realize orders came from above)it really ticked me off

A private site it may be, but what would it be with out the long time members that have posted here, the paying sponsers would soon move if another site got lager than this one, and there a lot of those long time members, that have gone.

SS

We average 50 to 75 new members a day during the week signing up and more on the weekends, TN is still growing, as I said...

Bottom line it is still a business and we as mods can only express our opinions. It is like anything else you take the bad with the good. I still greatly appreciate and love this site and even if I was not a mod I would still not be moving on.....

Being a mod is not easy, if we delete something someone doesn't like we are a good mod, if we don't delete something someone doesn't like we are taking sides and if we delete something they posted we are Nazis...

For the record....I have the utmost respect for ALL of the Mods, and have never had any ill will toward any of them...I cant say that for some other sites I have been on.Personally I am too opinionated to be a Fair Mod myself,so I always remember that

SS,

They said when we switched to the new platform that TN would die, that everyone would leave, true some left, some of those that left returned, TN has more traffic now than before the sale, advertisers pay for traffic.

I personally hate to see anyone leave, but in the end TN will still be here and will still be the best site on the net for treasure hunting.

Anytime there is an issue the owners and admins try to fix it and work with us to give us what we want if at all possible....

As mods and admins we see the traffic, we get emails on every single member signing up, we are a long ways from even declining much less dying.

TH.

I have no doubt the membership is growing, metal detecting/treasure hunting has expanded world wide over the last few years, but how many of the new members will truly stick around, and post on a regular basis, it's the loss of critical long time posters that concerns me. It's all well having the new members, but how many are experienced enough to post, and give answers, I'm not saying all new members will be newbies to the hobby...but a lot are.

I have always said moderating was a thankless job, and you can have it, but it's the old members we have to keep, but it seems a lot have been driven away by the political agenda of Treasurenet...that's all I was saying :icon_thumright:

I understand your concern and agree to a point.

We average about 2000+ new members a month, just for example if only 10% stick to post that is 200 or more regulars new posting members a month.....10% is also a low estimate, and again I hate to see any leave especially long time regular posters with all their knowledge, but it is what it is.

We have some leave and return saying they couldn't stay away as TN was still the best... People get mad and leave, sometimes after going off on mods then we see them sneak back in under new names,

When they do that if they don't try to create a problem and don't try to use both names we usually let them stay and don't say anything to them about it, down the road a few confess and ask if they can use their old names again.....

You think it is hard to please a dozen, try dozens, hundreds or even thousands....

We have a testimonials forum :icon_scratch: :laughing7:

It is sad to lose the knowledge of older members(longer term members)

Leaving but some new members might stick around and help fill the void .
I am new to metal detecting but mom and dad had me dump digging when I was still crapin on cloth.
So some do have a little to bring to the table.
No one here is as smart as all of us here.

I often do not think people realize how hard we try to please everyone and stand by the rules of the site when sometimes all you really want to do is just join in and post your own finds or admire what son of a digger or Silver Searcher has found or maybe some gold from Kuger. Then like TH said you have thousands of new members come in learning to navigate the site and learning to post needing help and looking for acceptance among their peers. It gets busy. It is the seasoned members that often jump in and help. It is what makes this site unique the members. If we did not mod certain things and sometimes tow the line it would get crazy. Sometimes you have thousands on line and 6 mods on at various times. I am glad Sonofadigger will come back and visit. He knows he is well liked and respected here at T-Net.I wish him all the success in the world.
