time to pick your brains

I have found 1947 penny, 53 and a few others. Now for some help, what coin book do you use to learn about these coins and the value. I have seen a red book, blue book, gray sheet, a blue sheet, and others. for a learning MDer which do you suggest? The sheets are pricey and the books in a good affordable range. thank you.

Red Book & A.N.A. Grading Standards will get you started.

Buy a used copy of the Red Book to learn about the coins--then look at eBay's Completed Transactions for current values--based on condition, etc.
