this wont pertain to those that hit newer spots
it's for those that hit older beaches - both fresh and saltwater
what is it that all these finds pics have in common ?
you find these old bathing suit buckles and
these could lead you to old coins and old gold
the spot I found all these early 1900's coins at
I also found a handful of buckles - they were found
off the remains of an old swimming pier
old gold and other early 1900 items were found here also
I have found buckles like this at old time fresh water spots too and found
old gold and coins at those spots - (I probably have about 100 of these buckles - all shapes and sizes - some have designs
or patterns on them - most are plain)
so if you find a few of these at an old spot - dont dismiss them -
take them as a good sign and that there may be other goodies near by
sometimes these were found in concentrations at low tide in deeper water - and I believe
that they were lost in the area that there might have been a floating raft
In one case i am positive there was because the morings were descibed to me
and I found them and found many buckles along with coins and jewelry around them
I believe that when people tried to haul themselves onto the rafts they hooked their
belts on the wood and tore them off - thats how they got lost I believe
here i an old sketch from an early magazine where you can see some suits with belts
the belts were usually rubber - some were cloth
here are some early ads with examples
mostly buckles were for mens suits but some women had them too
