tips on Montana gold?

Anyone familiar with the Southwestern area of Montana just up from Yellowstone? Thinking I would do better looking for gold there than in Wyoming. Any tips much appreciated! Thanks

Virginia city has some "pay to play" panning ( don't think you'll find any open placer ground). The east side of the Elk Horn range has some placer, and the west side of the Belts, which include Confederate Gulch. Some areas around Helena. Lots of placer areas in southwestern MT. but most are either private, or claimed.
