to glue or not to glue

Recently I've been digging a pile of dirt that was the result of a dozer going through prime grounds many years ago.My first dig produced the business end of a gouge.The second turned up the back half.it turned out to be a 11" full channeled gouge. Glue or not to glue

Its unfortunately always going to be a broke now.. but since the break wasn't the result of use.. I say by all means glue that poor thing and post a photo.

Just do not use Elmer's or Beeswax, Certainly needs to be sealed, for sure.

I don't see any pictures, but based on the answers so far is it bone or stone? If it's bone, then it should be preserved. If it's stone it should be fine.

As far as connecting one end back to the other, yes do it. I've seen a lot of pieces that were broken and the wife/kids/grandkids remembered having the other half but couldn't find it. There is usually one end that is obviously something, and the other end looks like a rock and gets lost/tossed/boxed/etc over the years.

Joshuaream.....Sorry about the no pics.My phone isn't accepting or sending pics right now.It needs a little hammer adjustment.The gouge is stone and I'm thinking epoxy.Just wanted opinions from a collectors view point....thanks

Glue it so it doesnt break anymore than it has already. Then when your pic is uploaded do a broken pick and the finished pic.

Just use some super glue.....it can be gotten back off easily if ever needed. Lots of epoxies are stronger then the stone! I push Krazy Glue just because it comes in a hard container that is easy to control versus toothpaste type containers. Good point from Joshua.....I just to it as bone...

If you have a broken piece, glue can't break it any more. I would not glue stuff to frames. But, defiantly glue two pieces of a broken together.
