Absolutely it's real! The jeweler would not have bothered with a six prong setting to secure a CZ. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

I used to be a jewler. To me it looks real. A CZ has a lighter blue hue to it when you look through the table. This is a darker blue which indicates a true diamond. A real diamond and a CZ do look close but once you stare at enough of them you know when you see a real one.

I woulda bet my life it was real!!
Did they check all the stones? Cuz who ever lost it, could have lost the big stone out of it and had it replaced with a Z.

Oh......Alright. But this is painful for me guys...(sniff).....
I boyishly skipped into a the jewelry store whisltling "Baby You can Drive My Car" by the Beatles. When I spotted a pretty young lady behind the counter. I went up to her and said, "Excuse me miss. Would you mind checking this ring's diamond for me",and boastfully added,"I found it metal detecting!"
She took it in her dainty little hand and looked at it through a Lupe. (I have one myself.
) She then grabs a tester and touches it to the diamond for a sec.......and then just says..."Nope! Not real!" She then hands it back to me and walks away leaving me there....alone.
I stood there for what seemed hours. My dream of seeing my ring on the banner shattered. Shattered just as easy as this rings stone can be.
"What am I gonna tell the folks on the forum?" I wondered. and I'll have to cancel my interview with "Lost Treasure Magazine"!
And that is the way it went down.
I may take it somewhere else to see how it goes. I got bad vibes as soon as I told her I found it metal detecting......

like I said before you need more then one opinion.. she may not known how to use the tester or she may have just told you that to get you out of her hair since you wasn't there to buy anything...

Did the machine beep? Was it a black handheld device that she used? If it beeped once it is real. If it didnt beep then its a CZ.

I had that same feeling as you once, "what am i gonna tell all the T-Netters" but when im watching someone else, besides me go through the same thing i did, my heart just goes out to you, and im real possitive everyone else on here feels the same way i do.
Still think you need to take it somewhere else. She's young like you said, and thats an antique, she may not have ever seen a cut like that. They may have cut diamonds different back then, You dont know.
