Token / Tag ID help

Found at 1890 house in Pittsburgh, McKeesport neighborhood.


In the same hole with an 1915 token.

Strange that it looks like a coin/token about the same size as a quarter, but stamped with a number on reverse.

Anyone recognize. Thx!

Appears to be a credit/charge coin from a retailer most likely, with someone’s personal charge number on back.
Possibly Jordan Marsh?

Great looking find my friend!
Upon first glance, I see the crown as being an exaggerated version of a Victorian Crown.

My feeling is that if you're able to figure out what the cypher stands for, it looks like MJC, you'll find out why this piece was made.

It’s either J.M. Co. Or M.J. Co., which is why I guessed Jordan Marsh Co., and I can find a couple of these listed for sale as that, but that isn’t proof enough to make me certain.

Thanks guys! Looks very similar to my piece. Maybe some slight differences in the crown. I was not able to access the 2nd image (reverse) on the link you sent.

Would this type of coin act as proof to access someone’s credit account at a store? Like they would hold onto this token for years and use like a credit card account? Or would it be handed to the customer instead of a handful of change and documented for their next shopping visit?
