Found while searching a local backyard. Found mostly clad and this. Don't know what kind of metal but it is similar to the quarter. It was close to surface.

If its copper, it could be a large cent or a token. If it's a steel composite, it could be a knock out from an electrical box. Interesting!

It may have been a coin at sometime in its life . I have found some like this that were hammered until they were very thin and not identifiable. Try a magnet on it to see if it is steel.

About 50 years ago we used to take pennies and hammer them like that, they worked in vending and pinball machine as a quarter. Yes, I know it was wrong.

It is copper, so maybe a hammered penny. First one I have ever found.
