Tomato Sauce

Bill,I don,t know for positive, but I,ve heard that the Roma variety is best for sauce, juice, etc.
That was my dago uncle's choice. Us kids could'n't understand how he could leave sauce simmer all day without burning up, all us kids thought it was some kind of Italian magic. He always had three strings of garlic hanging hmm.... Maybe that was the secret. Piece of bread with a dip of olive oil & a dip of that magic sauce was better than candy!

It’s those special moments that will always be remembered
It’s amazing that you mentioned the non burning as when I did the cleanup there was no burning also
Thanks for sharing

You got the magic!!!

Is there a certain tomato variety that’s best
I think they call it Heinz 57 for a reason.
Oh some might argue that a certain type is better than others, but we just used every different variety that was available.

Looks delicious Bill. In South Philly home made sauce is called gravy. I always called it sauce.
Thank You .
It takes along time to prepare and it turned out good.
I heard that called gravy so many years ago I forgot about it..
Take care

What kind of mill are you using?
At first we were going to use a strainer and I called the cutlery store and they recommended a mill.
The one that we picked out clamps to a table .
Good luck and let me know if you get one
Thanks
Bill

I love that recipe..Kielbasa is the best..My family came from Poland and we had that a lot
