Tonight on the Travel Channel - DIG WARS!

I saw the old fort one, the bleach blonde bimbo pulled a big azz cannonball, looked as big as a bowling ball, it sounded like silver but you cannot under any circumstances trust that any of the audio is live feed, and in sync with the tecter. The audio is all willy nilly dubbed in, it's simply asinine. Stanly Cup Bruins/Blackhawks tied at 3 going into overtime. You cant miss it.

HOW ABOUT SHOWING A LITTLE RESPECT - - the woman on the show -Abbey = her husband - Josh is a member here in good standing
is it okay for him to bad mouth your wife or girlfriend or mother ?

Just saw a couple clips of the show! Finding some similar characteristics as Ric Savage but I haven't been able too catch a full episode, so i will keep my head open but... I often wonder if a archaeologist is behind these shows?? too try and ruin the hobby. It amazes me they jump to the value of the artifact so quick and seem more interested in the value, selling it and just hitting that pay dirt; then running down too the nearest artifact dealer too bank in. Then again the shows have gotten lot of more MDers into the hobby so.. i dont know... At the end of the show does the Dig Wars go to the nearest artifact dealer and cash in?

Just finished watching both shows.
in spite of production, it was nice watching a few Relic hunters I recognized,
And nice to see the so called contest was just a personal competition thing & not another
amazing race type scam. with prizes or lame things like riding a bicycle into a sewerage pit :(

although I wonder about the Parrot shell and Cannon ball being live As stated.
they may have found live ones, however, My hunch is, the ones shown in the shop
were not the ones they dug. is anyone from the show allowed to admit that ?
or are you sticking to the tale ? I don't believe for a second he allowed live shells in his shop,
even though odds of them going off is always exaggerated, by people who charge to disarm them. and bomb squads who get to blow things up.

one part P.O.'d me. :( the penny seeding scene :(
I hope production forced them to do it, with threats of law suits if they refused.
I Personally would Never hunt with anyone who would waste my time or
anyone's short Relic hunt by forcing them to work around memorials !!! :( :BangHead: :censored: !!!

on the Whole, I'll be watching next week again.

I agree ! The fact his wife is a relic Hunter Rocks :headbang:

What a disappointment ! I barely stomached the first 1/2 hour . Another fake show with silly acting that will only hurt the hobby !

Have it recorded but from the comments I heard and what my buddy said another planted finds show.

I don't believe they were planted finds.
But will be watching closer at conditions,
& regularity of above average finds, to see if I do catch something.

if they are getting un-hunted properties, the finds should be numerous

I agree, calling someone's wife a bimbo, especially a respected TNet member is outrageous, unacceptable and un-called for.

Hey, everybody is someone's something or other. Today, I am Tnet's bad guy du jour. For what its worth, I truly and sincerely apologize to the delightful young lady on the program. My comments were not intended to specifically attack anybody. I viewed the lady simply as a tv character. But the damage is done, gleaner is an ass, gleaner is the bad guy today. Foolishly, it never occurred to me that actors from these "reality" tectin shows might be actual members of Tnet until it was too late. Doh! Once again, my sincerest apologies to the lady in the show. I rescind my post.

Thanks for doing the right thing. I am close friends with the Silvas. They have welcomed me into their home many times as well as I have entertained Mr. Silva in my own. They are stand up folks, some of the best I know. They are true to the hobby & preservation of history.
Love the show or hate the show, its only opinions.

The show is just that A SHOW. If it brings good new people to the hobby that's fine, they help fight for metal detecting freedom. If not, in about a year there will be a load of used metal detectors on Craig's List.

...and I'm gonna buy one of each ... LOL

Show was okay. The enthusiasm was a bit over the top but not as bad as Diggers. But the penny thing? Who do you know that carries around a bag of penny's when they go out detecting, let alone tosses them in another detectorists path. And I now remember why I sold my F70 - that is the WORST tone ever.

Yes My Guess the Producers supplied them & it was already agreed on
in advance by both teams
that it would be done. & probably only in a very limited area,
just for the camera

I still stand by my Comment . I would never hunt with or respect anyone who
would purposely destroy a site with Clad

SS are those sites officially off limits after they are done ?

or is it just done out of Ignorance ?

In all honesty, In their case & your Country,
If it is not illegal to detect those spots,
I'd use them as "Tells"

in other words, If I was hunting a field & I came across a spot with tons of surface, or shallow clad,
I'd consider it a sign of historical ground, & purposely clean them up ,
so I can hopefully find some missed objects.

However you probably won't like this remark, but I may just forget to report
historical objects I find there, simply because of their Ignorance can be thrown back in their face :laughing7:

Of course no worries, I live here

This doesn't relate too Dig Wars but here is a post by Ric Savage in 2007 on MyTreasureSpot I found when I was trying too look up info on this Cannon that Ric found that ended up belonging too Steve Sylvia that was planted then Ric came back into Steve's shop and sold it back too him. Ric says he has years of experience and also goes after the Fakes... From this post from 2007 from Ric Savage before he gets into the spot light he pretty much sums up he is a newbie:

Welcome to the spot Ric. Post some of your finds. New or old we would like to see them!!!!*(n/t)
Hello to all! I am new here and this is my first post. I know some of you, others I don't. To all I say hello! And I have to agree with Steve Sylvia and his post on the last DIV. I have never had the priviledge of doing a DIV hunt. I am a relative newbie as a digger. I have gotten the bug, however, and I still get excited when I dig a dropped 3-ringer. I see digging as connecting with history. Not just READING it, but TOUCHING it...feeling it...evaluating the terrain, and trying to imagine it the way it was. There is no more exciting, or solemn moment as unearthing a relic lost since the soldier dropped it. I think, sometimes, some folks lose sight of the history and get caught in the competition. The desire to get the million-dollar piece. The desire to make a magazine. That's what I think drives some of these feuds I see and hear about in the digging community. I spend a lot of my time attacking folks that sell fake relics. I have a website devoted to exposing fakes. I write a column in American Digger Magazine exposing fakes. THOSE guys are the enemy! THOSE guys are worth going after! Other diggers...seems like we're on the same team. Maybe I'm wrong. Like I said, I'm a newbie. Just glad to be here.

Pretty unreal.. They play themselves as true experts like CannonBallGuy, CCHunter, Creskol, Nick Harris, Dennis Cox, etc.. When in fact they only have 3-4 years experience if that.

Jeff it's done purely for spite, it's well known that they seed fields with all sorts just to stop us detecting. They follow the building sites and check for occupation, I even asked them near my home if I could detect the spoil they had removed...yes, but they had seeded it with cut up pieces of copper nails...a lot :BangHead:
