I use three different kinds of logs. You may think this is overkill but they each have something different to offer.

One is "Clad Counter" (http://www.terrybullard.com/clad_counter.html). This also lets you produce and print a report by location, month, year. It's handy and easy to use. I really like this one.

Another is "Treasure Journal". You'll have to do a search look up for this. It's great for listing items, but it's draw back is that you can't print any of the information if you want a hard copy.

The last is just a simple one that I made using Microsoft Excel. It keeps track of the coins, jewelry and other finds. I can enter the amounts and I can print a report anytime I want.

There you have it. Three different types that all work well using your computer. As others have said you can just use a pen, paper and a journal to record your entries if you like.

Happy Hunting!!!

I use Excel and a program called I-Detect by Ginkoware. I really like the program and once they release the update with the extra features it will probably be all I use.

I use USAPhotoMaps, http://www.jdmcox.com/ Works well for me and the download times for maps/photos aren't bad, think theres a batch thing for it if you want to get a large area at once which I would guess speeds things up a bit.
