We hadn't checked our pics out for a month. We pulled it last night. We have had lots of deer. A couple cats ran by several times. But this one was a pleasant surprise.

A flicker?

I had one pic of a hawks(?)tail feathers when it landed/perched on the camera.
Of course it relieved itself on it too....

I would not know. I do not know my birds very well.

LOL! I am going to have to check the lens because right after this, the pics were blacked out and then they eventually cleared up little by little. Might explain it. :laughing7:

It's interesting what a trail cam can capture. I do think about getting one, just to see what all comes around in the suburbs? I'm sure it'll be coyote, coons and skunks at night, but there have been mountain lion sightings before over the years. I think they utilize the miles of wooded small creeks and irrigation ditches to move around unnoticed. I have seen their tracks and scat on my walks and bike rides along the trails and open spaces over time.

You should get one! It's pretty cool to see what's going on.

Looked like a red headed woodpecker to me. With the odd perspective of the normal looking trees in the background and the large appearance of the bird it almost looked like a turkey with a large woodpecker head, lol.

Red-bellied.

That's a nice one. Here's a Spike from our front yard. Spiky.webp

Oh man! That bird is huge!!

That’s not a surprise, a surprise would be a squatch or a naked person

Cool picture that's a classic

We had a night time visitor a couple of weeks ago. This one is the smallest of three in my suburb neighborhood.

I thought red-headed also, but I would have been wrong. LOL!
