well since you are feuding with Cyzak i am the obvious choice to keep the honor and glory for all here. unlike Cyzak and his banana boat history I am pure and hopeful. you DM the coordinates and i can go tonight. Solomon is a friend. The mountain will welcome us. To tell a family secret, my grandmother was Dutch.

or we can call Josh Gates and do an Expedition Unknown on it, kinda live and documentary style for all to find the history. Cyzak might hide in the bushes and take pot shots at us so security might be needed. We could file a treasure permit for the site, stuff like Prospecting activities, especially those involving surface disturbance, may require a Plan of Operations (POO), which is more extensive than a Notice of Intent (NOI). Permits often require financial warranties, such as a Certificate of Deposit, Check for Deposit, or Corporate Surety, to ensure reclamation of disturbed areas. Another options is to contact the Geosciences Department at Adams State University and get them involved. Finally this was Ute so a discussion on their level of involvement is needed. The real treasure is the friends we make along the way.

That is an awesome plan SG and get all the information you can from RV. And you being from Dutch descent that will be like an invisible armor on you up in the mountains. Nothing will get attached. Just be careful of the other people that will be around you that sometimes it will attach to them but not you. And all those agencies get them involved too and don’t forget the historical society. These agencies will be so helpful and provide you with so much information. It’ll be unbelievable. And please don’t be worried about me being up there. I will not be within 100 miles of that place ever. Hakuna Matata Amigo’s

Cyzak, if you want to give a look at the place I found by deciphering the LeBlanc map, which is using Spanish codes for treasure maps, I will be glad to PM you the spot. IMHO, it's worth to go there, at least a good trip close to known camps and roads.
And this just for the sake of treasure hunting.

I will be in contact, sir. I’ve always known you to be a very reputable person throughout the years.

Markmar: I would also like to have a look at the place you have found. Can you send me a message? I have been out there searching for the last 6 years. The terrain is definitely rugged! I give a of credit to those mountain men and explorers who were out in the wilderness before there were any roads or even set trails.

Hello Goldseeker74

As I wrote in another threads, I don't use to give a spot to many, and this to avoid the competition and what any bad things could emerge from that. Cyzac was the first person who asked me for the spot, so the only option for you is to come to an agreement with him.
I'm sorry I can't help you but these are my principles.

Just for the record - I believe "Xanthus Carson" was one of the many pen names used by Gladwell Richardson (aka "Maurice Kildare").

KvonM wrote about a series of lost mine articles written by a woman for a wire service (something to do with "Phantom" in the title) published by several Colorado newspapers in the 1930's. He said modern treasure yarns are based on these pieces. When I first started reading this thread I thought one of hers was the seed. I'll look this up and see if I can come up with more information.

Good luck to all,

The Old Bookaroo
We were both wrong Fred, Xanthus Carson is a pen name for Kit Carson, who wrote for Westerns and Treasure mags in the late 1960s and 1970s....he was actually named Treasure Hunter of the Year by the Treasure Trove Club of Raymond Dow fame.

According to this 1960 New York newspaper, Dow amassed a massive treasure library and due to his numerous expeditions and treasure quests, was referred to as a subject matter expert by the Library of Congress and The Smithsonian ! Unfortunately he always came home empty-handed.

The thrill of discovering something new can be exhilarating, but it fades relatively quickly. The true value of a treasure is what it brings to your life, the joy, security, or inspiration it provides.

Raymond Dow was affiliated with Robert Nesmith, who famously operated the Foul Anchor Archives. Both of them operated in pretty close proximity and were at one time or another affiliated with the Treasure Trove Club of New York.
