Nice finds.. :occasion14:

Could you tell me why you believe those are rubies? I'd like to do some hunting for them around here, but no idea what to look for. There is a lot of red garnet in my area, as well.

I have both on my property, garnets & rubies as well as sapphires and other things. I have found well over 100 rubies & sapphires. There is a distinct difference between rubies & garnets once you get to recognize them. Originally I didn't know the difference but from talking & listening to geologists, jewelers, etc. over the years, reading and learning the characteristics of each I can now recognize each. I have shown enough of them over the years to geologists, jewelers, other rockhounds that I feel comfortable in knowing them when I find them.
