Finds between my son and I for last Wendsdays trip to a local school and a trip to New York. Learned a little "lesson" in NY - don't assume that because some place was productive for someone that "they got it all". At the one place Butch(friend we hooked up with in NY), my son and I hunted had told me what Charles(Butch's buddy) had found and where he found it. I thought - I'm not going to hunt that spot - I bet he gridded it with his Explorer II. Turns out he did grid the spot but that didn’t stop Butch from hunting there. I was having trouble getting those deep signals. He found a signal and told me to see if I could get it. I got it loud and clear on my Quattro. He told me to dig it. I dug and at about 7 inches out pops a mint 1901 Barber dime.
Me being the greenhorn, covered the hole, showed my find to Butch and went on my way. Butch comes over and rescans the hole and says there is more down there. My son comes over with his DFX and can't get a wisper. Butch proceeds to dig out two seated dimes.
Few other finds – a smashed old silver ring with the stone missing. A 1 Quart Token(most likely 1920’s or 30’s). A metal marble?
