Trying to figure out your coin in the second picture. Can you try shining a light from the side of it to get the detail to pop out? I can almost see designs in it, just can't make it out very well.

Nice finds Chris ! What you are calling a religious copper is actually a British half penny . It is almost certainly a King George II circa 1740 - 1754 or King George III 1770 - 1775 The circle with the Saxon cross is the shield of Britannia . MaineRelic

Good eye. I noticed the circle with the cross too but wanted to see it a little better so he could get an ID. Maybe some more pics will determine which era.

Sweet pulls!! Congrats on the copper! :icon_thumright: This is just a guess bit I'd say the coin is a 1787 King George III.

Hmm...Interesting how Wikepedia says KG III half pennies were minted from 1770-1775 and my 2011 red book says they were basically minted from 1770-1788. Kinda confusing but after learning this I did some more research and here's a 1772 KG III half penny(top of page) that looks very much like the coin that was found. http://www.wnccoins.com/0003.htm
